I've used both and both are nice. I got the Inflictor at the lodge at a start of an NG+ run.
Ive yet to see one at high damage like reported here. Maybe because of my settings.
Sniper, rambo, old west pistol are the most supported styles (long range scope, medium range big magazine, short range high damage).
Its hard to argue about hard target as the go-to sniper... the magsniper is a little better at the cost of being a lot more annoying. There is nothing else that even competes.
medium range is filled with great stuff, beowulf, magshear, some shotguns with longer range workbench tweaking (breach and shotty with slugs), and many others. The inflictor may be the #1 dps pick, but lots of stuff is good enough and the inflictor is inaccurate unless standing still and firing slowly.
short range / pistol is ruled by magshot, eagle, regulator, razorback, 1911s, varrun with the ones that accept a short scope coming in for double duty (you can use them at the medium ranges esp if sneaking), and the full auto magshot modification in a class of its own for melting 1 target at a time (punching over 6k damage almost instantly on a 12 magazine variant).
But at the end of the day you have a solid 10 or more choices for any thing OTHER than sniper style play. Once the enemy get around level 100 and you need 1 hit kills, the semi-auto beowulf 'sniper' and similar ideas stop working.
damage on paper is affected by your damage perks in the skill trees + modifications to the weapons. You are seeing people with advanced quality guns, possibly with damage increasing modifications on them from the *** rating (blue/purple/gold modifiers), and beefed up with damage perks.
Getting an Inflictor at the start of NG+ is a great thing to happen. There are several places that can have one besides the basement of the Lodge. One of them is the weapons research lab in the MAST building. I usually buy a bit of heavy fuse ammo in Neon and when I can't get an Inflictor I grab 'Jake's hangover cure' from the bar in the well.
Found this while on mission looking for Barret. It's not my best gun. It's green. I love it.
with single action mod that one would take you a good ways into a new game though.
My only gripe is the fact that they are unique without any real physical look to them beyond color. Though I did find an Equinox with white and blue trim colors that wasn't named specially and without any mods.
Did you find it like that or did you have to apply the skin?! Looks awesome!
