Steamdeck performance
I see the game is “unsupported” because you can’t get the graphics to an acceptable level of performance.

Anyone have any luck with adjusting the game graphics settings along with performance and resolution settings on the deck itself to get a decent/steady frame rate?

Steamdeck is a limited hand held device designed to play limited games. So, it is working properly, Anyone who thinks it should be able to handle a game too big for a lot of PCs is not working properly.

oh lord , good luck , it's a demanding game i dont see it running on a toy like steamdeck at all , instead of buying a toy use that money to get a xbox/playstation or upgrade your pc

It works, but isn't all that enjoyable, at least at launch that was the case. I'll start it up and run around a bit to see how it runs

It's actually not terrible if you can stand 30fps. It holds to that pretty well, even in the cities, but it can drop to around 20fps at times in New Atlantis and Akila City. The Deck's built-in game recording is terrible and hits performance pretty hard (15-20% drop in Starfield) but I'll grab a couple short videos in a few different places

That's on the lowest settings with 60% resolution scaling and FSR3 + frame gen though lol

Yeah if the game recording decides to actually work lol anything above the lowest settings isn't really playable, especially not with the Deck recording

Alright, I recorded four different videos. One crashed the entire Deck and didn't actually save, one was just a black screen, one only recorded the first few frames over and over, and the fourth one actually works on the Deck itself but it won't send to my phone or desktop so I'm giving up lol the Deck is kind of a piece of ♥♥♥♥ honestly.

Just record it from your phone, the deck is not a streamer.

OP, don't bother playing this on a Steam Deck. This game requires a beefy machine to really enjoy it imo.

Honestly I had it at 60 fps on med low settings. Like always turn done shadows to lowest and fsr 3.0 with tdp at max.

Or just play it on NVIDIA Now for free at 1 hour sessions or pay 10 buck for 6 hour sessions.

Nvidia now works great.

It has built-in screen recording, it just doesn't work worth a ♥♥♥♥. At this point I'm too annoyed with it to do anything more right now lol

Series X GPU is basically an RX 6700XT with some custom hardware to help with various tasks that are run on the GPU on PCs, so it's actually pretty decent still. It can mostly hold 60fps (the console is CPU limited in the major cities) at 1440p (it uses FSR2 to then output at 4K) on a mixture of medium and high settings.
