So this is just dead then?
A year and a half and the best they could muster was one sub-par DLC? Seriously? No regular updates, and even though I would hate paying for it, (NO OTHER DLC!?!?!?) Mod's can't save this and bethesda seems to be sweeping it under the rug in preparation for the incoming disaster that will be ES6... Are they really just abandoning this? It had so much potential...

In today's game, we try to guess which one of the usual crew of obsessed Starfield-hating forum trolls created the sock puppet account to post this generic rant.

Ahh, all the usual suspects producing the same lame answers.

In December 2023 Todd Howard is on record stating that at the launch of Starfield they dropped the devs working on the game down to 250, so sept 6th till when he made his comment in the interview in december.

Lets call it 20 weeks, 20 x 250 x 40 = 200,000 developer man hours.

Spent on the game post launch.

That is more hours than 90%+ of games see in development.

That is very close to how long Hello Games spent for the entirety of the development period for No Mans Sky.

And we do not know how long after December 2023 they continued working on Starfield.

So if Todd Howard and Bethesda and Microsoft continued pouring tens of millions of dollars into Starfield post launch in Dev wages, who are you lot to tell us the game is not live service?

They added DEVELOPER MADE CONTENT to the CC, a whole year past launch, dev made pay for it mods.

So when someone calls out the absolute paucity of work produced post launch, they are absolutely, unequivocally, empirically correct to do so.

And you call us mindless in our "hatred", talk about delusional.
Why are you lashing out against people saying the game isn't dead? Do you get that nobody in this thread even brought up "live service" except for one person, who was NOT one of the "usual suspects," and was on the side of the game seeming abandoned?

Is the game dead/abandoned? I don't think so, I believe there's more coming. Do you disagree? That's what this topic is about.

Well said and I agree, hope the op marks this as an answer I would love to see some of the defenders try to debunk this but we all know they can't. :cozyspaceengineersa:

Going on two years now and still barely nothing as Denizen points out, and there won't be anything because the game is dead, completely and totally dead.

Never seen a game go this long without more updates or letters from the Devs. Only games that are dead do that, which is why we're sure the game is dead.

Going on two years now .

Congratulations! I don't know what the world record is for consecutive years spent trolling the forum of a game you don't own and have never played, but it has to be within reach now.

Congrats at replying to all his post, I guess the game really is dead after all.
they were probably planning for 6+ DLC's, now maybe just 2 or 3 at most, and those would be cut down to size as well.

Ship builder is still buggy though as far to many ship parts keep getting dropped all of the time due to a mounting bug! This bug need fixing fools at Bethesda! Yes this bug as been reported!

Singleplayer games don’t “die”, as for this “abandoning”, games don’t ever get indefinite support.
Last edited by gingerbreadman; Feb 13 @ 2:53am
pretty much dead after this year, will get zero support after 2025.

You of course have some evidence for this assertion?

We'd love to see it.

How about new mods being uploaded EVERY day, both at Nexus, and Beths' site? Not to mention the rather active forums here, even if most of the threads are posted by trolls. The trolls certainly haven't abandoned the game.....
