Is there a way to make performance better?
I played the game last year on max settings and got 70+ fps everywhere including in cities now I'm dropping down to 30 ish regularly even when boarding ships and small areas. Did updates make performance worse or something?

Update: save was corrupted/damaged by updates. Dropping the game for now.

This^^^

Easiest and best way is to use what Steam gives us.

The steps are as follows (very simple):

Go up top here in Steam and find "Help"
Next choose "System information"
Give it a second or 2 to populate
Then simply copy & paste the info here in this thread, all of it.

Yeah I'm not doing that. But I will tell you that my system specs far exceed the recommended specs and that the game ran fine prior. I also run all other games perfectly fine and have run benchmarks and other tests already to test for faults with my machine. It's a Starfield issue.

This was more of a general question "has optimization gotten worse?". Maybe it could be me using a save from over a year ago? I'm running a fresh install of the game. I could test a new save but at that point I'd just drop the game.

Nvidia? What driver version?

Yes. I'm on 566.14 It's the most stable for the majority of games I play.

No optimization hasn't gotten worse.

I've never had anyone ask for help and not give those specs but no problem I understand.

There are some issues a recent nvidia driver update cause certain GPU's. Hard to be specific without see a detailed breakdown of your specs.

So again to answer your question the optimization hasn't become worse. I run a RTX 3090 with a i9-12900K and the game runs very well. I have over 40 people on my friends list who play this game and nobody has said performance has become worse. I watch too many "Let's Play" Starfield videos where there are no performance issues. Hard to give you much more at this point.

well that definitely answers that part. Are you using DLSS and FG?

Waste of time OP, the "fans" will blame you over and over again, they will NEVER admit this woke trash game is not optimized, like so many recent game releases.

Yeah I'm running a notably stable driver version. It's probably the old save I'll try a new save and if that fixes it then I guess i'm permanently shelving the game to never be finished lol.

Makes no difference if I have them on or off. I refuse to use FG and never used it before. Looking at old footage I had. I was running 70 - 120 fps on average with no dips under 70 after the first performance patch. I haven't played since then though so all is up in the air it seems.

you could try and use the console to head to the unity and restart the game

coc MQUnity

at least you won't lose your levels and what not. You can then of course download an achievement enabler if that bothers you.

If I'm being honest I think it'd be ridiculous if I have to do that just to play a game that was paid for. If it was a free game then sure, lack of quality is understandable. But at that point I'd rather just pass on the game entirely.

I don't personally care about the "woke" you're referencing but I do generally see a pattern of making any excuse imaginable when looking at threads for potential fixes that may help me.
