Lol wut?
Because he exploited his workers and laid off hundreds of employees to keep his bottom line out of the red? Not really the W comment you thought it was. THOUSANDS of people have been hired and fired by Todd Howard and his recent failures to make a worthwhile consumer product.
You know Todd does not OWN the company...LOL...Right?
The evidence was always out there it was just a matter of looking and a willingness to accept it (sounds a bit religious..., who's the anti Godd Howard?).
At best all Microsoft can hope for is Todd voluntarily retires after ES6, which he has kind of hinted at. They can't get rid of him.
I kinda think Phil Spencer is sick of him. If you look at some of the recent interviews he is always trying to undermine Todd and make him look foolish in public. Things like saying the buggy was released too early or wanting cross saves in FO76. These are things he must know Todd et al can't do, but says it in public anyway.
Like everything, time will tell. Will we forget him like Michael Jackson?
But he is the face of it. And now one of the biggest liabilities within XBOX. No one trusts him. Gamers know everything he says is a lie.
I was a Bethesda fanboy for over a decade. I still love some heavily modded Skyrim. But I won't even CONSIDER TES 6 until after mods begin to release. And even then, I will LOOK AT the game, and consider purchasing. I will NEVER buy day 1 from Bethesda again - not even their published games, because of the bad deals and pressure they foist on devs.
XBOX assigned a manager over Todd now. Bethesda was brought in as one of the XBOX 'hands off' studios, with free reign to do as they pleased...much like Obsidian was originally.
With Starfailed, Bethesda lost that. They now report to someone in XBOX who oversees them.
You didn't watch the video did you? Like everyone has been saying for years, everything connected to Bethesda goes through Todd personally. All based on a handful of testimonies from people who used to and still do work at Bethesda. If you're going to try and make some kind of smart commentary, you should probably step out of your self-prescribed echo chamber and educate yourself.
I heard about the personal handler Microsoft installed to keep Todd on a leash, but honestly the damage is already done. Starfield was his "magnum opus" and failed spectacularly given the scope and investment in that project. If he goes radio silent (which is what he should have done after the CC dropped) he'll be forgotten for sure, and known mostly as another big studio manager that got too greedy for his own good. Does anyone remember the people at EA who bought up all those companies 20 years ago only to turn around and bury those IPs? I know I don't.
