Why do ANY mods disable achievements??
Question is right there... its a single player game so who cares. Nearly every mod you can add that is free disables achievements. You pay for it and suddenly the same mod is fine... Kinda annoying IMO.

Console commands do too, for some reason. Which they've not done in their other games. :(

Design choice by Bethesda because many mods make the game easier, or are outright cheats, lessening the impact of earning the achievements...

I've known other developers who do this over the years too...

Console commands have disabled achievements since FO4, so it made sense this would carry over into Starfield...

Did they? I don't recall needing achievement enablers for either of those, nor for the original Skyrim...

Well, none of the ones I've used did. :)

Since you're using mods already, one more won't hurt. Add an achievement enabler mod. Problem solved.

Good thing there's a mod to disable the disabling of achievements due to mods.

Same things available in Skyrim/Fallout etc.

You probably dont remember achievements all together because they are utterly pointless and don't affect anything in game

Also you probably lost your old achievements anyways after buying the game again on a new platform / different edition

Yeah, for you. And for me. But there are people that do care about that.

The first time that using a mod disables achievements got introduced in Fallout 4 game and got carried over to Starfield. The reason why a "M" flag (means "modded") is set on your game save is - likely - on request of Sony. The PlayStation trophies have a value on their platform. In order to allow a game to be modified on their platforms, they probably requested for this mechanism. Now, no achievements are being granted if your game save got a "M" flag.

As many has pointed out, it is easy to work around this issue by using another mod. It has its foundations here; https://github.com/Sumwunn/AchievementsModsEnabler/tree/master

Yeah, for you. And for me. But there are people that do care about that.

You only "need" to unlock them once, once and for all. If you do care (I personally did complete them anyway for Starfield), you have options to do so in no time.

-keep a pure vanilla save and rush them to completion
-use an achievement enabler mod.

You can do it faster by using SAM :steammocking:

It happens that I encounter a profile that displays achievements for a specific game I've played as well. As I know some were hard or even reached under a specific circumstances (as they're hunting it...), I am intrigued. Perhaps it is a skilled player. So I checked the list to see what for achievements this person did as well ... to discover that all (or a big part) got done on the same minute. Yeah Yeah...

Paradox Interactive disables them as well so this is nothing new.

I love how people with zero clue keep posting made up reasons as facts.

Xybolt had it right.

Yep. Initially FO4 was not coming to PS4. Sony and Bethesda had already closed negotiations. They reopened them anyway, with inclusion of this M thing for saves and excluding all non-vanilla assets from PS mods.
