Why was i able to convince Shiela to simply give me the key to the safe guarding the ES Award?
This is literally one of the worst things i've ever seen plotwise in any RPG / non-RPG game i've ever played in entire life.

A trillion dollar company is hosting an event on a insanely luxuous and highly advanced spaceship. With the prize being one of the most expensive awards existent in the Milky Way, and the person responsible to keeping this award safe simply agreed to give me key to the safe just because i asked nicely?

I'm with 200 hours in this game, but this was insane, what the ♥♥♥♥ were they thinking? My immersion went to the abyss after this...

How many RPGs explain natural20 critical success that way.
You were "Ship Security" checking the locks were in place.

RedTeam pentest/Social Engineering 101.

The more amazing thing is - you don''t believe it's feasible.

The problem is that there was no dialogue leading the player to even roleplay as being a security overseer. The dialogue was "I need that key, please, this can stay between us". This is beyond ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure the entire plot and all quests were written by AI

Yeah the Persuasion system is a neat idea but often too powerful. If you level it up to rank 4 it becomes a Quest skip button half the time lol.

AI... NPCs... same thing.

I thought that part of the quest was ridiculous as well. The rest of it was fun but that part was really bad. She would never give away that key b/c she was responsible for the item in question. It really did not make sense. Convincing her to show it to you and then you gain some key or code or something along the way would have been more believable. But she just gives up the key to the MacGuffin? Not plausible at all.

I mean any post investigation would deduce you were the only one with the key and the key was used in the theft. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that you either gave the key up willingly or it was stolen off your person. The persuasion system should have never been part of the quest. She should have said no and/or even had security escort you around for even asking such a stupid question.

If this would have happened then the quest would be easier if you don't ask her at all and instead find a way to get the key from her another way or maybe she lays it down when she goes to bed so you follow her, get her room code and then break in and get the key, steal the item, put the key back and exit the ship.

But if you did ask her then you would get escorted by security and you would have to elude them somehow or wait till they shift change or something and then steal the item.

There are so many ways they could have made this quest much better. You could have cozied up to one of the guests and somehow get them to create a distraction of sorts or maybe there is a guest that really hates the whole luxury snooty lifestyle and those around them and so they offer to help anyway they can. You sell the item and split the profits or you screw them over and just leave. If you screw them over later you get an event in space or on foot where they confront you....and so on.

It could have been really good. It really came off as quite lazy.

I saw it as she was sick and tired of year after year, dealing with the same stuck up rich jerks, patting themselves on the back. She was glad to get rid of it.

This is a good head canon. But i would rather not having to create a headcanon because of the devs inability to be creative...

She does imply that.

i answered this last time you posted this thread (i assume it was you, if it wasn't then there was already a thread with nearly identical wording).

multiple people at the party talk about how much of a pain it is to bring anywhere, its a useless award you can't even show people because its always under lock and key. She didn't want to take care of it anymore, she tells you "we won't get the insurance involved if it goes missing" because she didn't want the job anymore as it was a pain.

she gives you the key because she will simply claim "it was the crimson fleet" and she gets a fault free way to leave that job and not lose any of her social standing... its... not a complex scene or setup and they clearly state all this context many many times.

It wasn't me, but i understand what you're saying. Even with all of these "contexts" it still doesn't make sense the way they allowed us to simply get the key from her after 3 lines of dialogue, it just doesn't fit in the situation at all

I mean. True, i did find another way to solve by blackmailing her, but still the fact that just asking nicely is a option baffles me, seems so out of place with the context, idk... Very weird

People get scammed in real life by smooth talkers, is it really that farfetched? (what I mean is, there are people who are really stupid :P)
