Razorleaf or Shieldbreaker?
So I am level 19 and just picked up the Razorleaf, but I also have $250k in credits and am able to fly class B ships. My dilemma is should I buy the Shieldbreaker or use my cash to upgrade/rebuild the Razorleaf?

Upgrade/rebuild would probably be cheaper and the Shieldbreaker will leave me near penniless but with an admittedly awesome ship.

What would you do?

Razorleaf is the Mantis ship right?

I hate the "fear effect" that ship has so I refuse to use it.

Mantis Ship, completely torn down and rebuilt from the ground up with max'd ship building options. > Shieldbreaker > Vanilla Mantis Ship

Yes it is. That is something I am considering in my choice as well, I'd rather not have them run from just the sight of my ship. Especially while needed ship kills for class C.

Personally, I upgraded Razorleaf with more habs, cargo and better parts, so I could save to build Class C from scratch. That's just my preference though, I don't want to buy ships, I want to build ships.

Razorleaf comes with some really nice A-rank engines that need starship design 3 and will outperform a lot of the B-rank ones you have access to at your level. It also includes shielded storage so you can smuggle some contraband easier.

Shieldbreaker is fantastic though and you can't go wrong with it if you don't wanna mess around with ship building.

I don't have max ship building and probably wont for quite awhile at my level.

I chose the Rambler as the Cheapest Ship. Like 56K. I have since added more than 1.7 Million Creds to its Upgrading. The actual Value of installed parts is closer to 750K and the value of the ship is around 50-75k. Constant swapping out of parts is likely a bad idea.

Future Gameplays I will limit my Upgrading to 5-10 level increments and not just willy nilly as I have been doing.

Then probably shieldbreaker, really solid all around ship, but no contraband with it (at least not vanilla)

The shielded cargo is nice I have a lot of contraband at my outpost. But at the moment I don't/can't really do a lot with a complete rebuild because of my level and perk allocation.

Sounds like Shieldbreaker might be a good choice to use as an interim ship until I can rebuild the Reazorleaf completely.

Just use a custom and upgraded A class ship. They're actually the best in the game because of superior speed and nothing in the game holds up against multiple particle weapons even on very hard. So all that firepower on bigger ships is kind of overkill anyway. And you can still get a ton of cargo space.

They made shipbuilding pretty lenient in this game and the combat is super arcadey and easy so really use the ship that you think looks cool.

Free and better than both those ships ;)
Modify it of course, you don't need all those fuel tanks ^^

I am most likely not even near that point in the game. Been doing a lot of side quests and building my outpost, etc..

I will have to keep my eye out for that one in the future.
