NG+
Im just about to finish the storyline and was reading about NG+. It seems completely pointless in the way they erase everything you get put skill points! Seems like such a stupid thing todo. So is NG+ even worth it?

You keep all your skills and experience.

what is NG+?

"Those who've sunk time into building outposts or chipping away at side quests may be disappointed to learn that the only things that carry over in Starfield's New Game+ mode are the playable character's experiences. In other words, the player's level and skills will follow them into their new playthrough, as well as any XP or challenge progress that they've made toward leveling them up. Relationships, quest progress, and outposts will be lost though, as too will all of the gear, Credits, and resources that the player has accumulated during their current run."

It's not pointless if you enjoy the game. Adds a lot more to the game for those who want more and much better rewards. There are also some things in NG+ you will never get in a normal run.

The only reason I'm considering it is to get Sarah back . But the thought of setting up my outposts again, redecorating apartment etc ... not very appealing. At least not right now, maybe that will change over time.

It gives us a clean slate. That's a good thing for "starting over"

New game after you win the game. It starts you off with some cool gear and skill progression so its much better that simply a New Game restart.

Agreed, I started the NG+ but wont be doing anymore of them. The armour is good and ship fun but its also such a bad ship to use so kinda pointless

I think it's actually a pretty cool mechanic. I like to "restart" the BGS open world games every few hundred hours with a clean slate. I've done it with all of their games. It's kind of excellent that I can do that in Starfield without also losing my levels and skills.

I just wish you could re-select Traits when you go into NG+, that would make it perfect. I'm hoping for a mod for that at some point.

honestly its not really all that great and there are a lot of difficulty spikes at the start of NG+. while the armor and ship looks cool, you can't even upgrade them. and the only way to upgrade the armor is by doing another new game plus and new game plus is also the only way to upgrade powers which gets really infuriating since you have to visit the temples again! and what sucks is that this metal called caelumite is barely used for anything and i thought it would of been used to upgrade powers but no, the metal is mostly useless and is only used on like a couple of armor mods which are all for stealth for all i know and i'm NOT a stealthy type.

Do the magazine buffs carry over or you have to recollect those?
FYM_Sicko Sep 20, 2023 @ 11:12pm
The ship you get sucks. The armor is OK. You lose everything else. Sooo.... its kinda stupid.

the ship is actually worse than you think because half the ship perks do not, i repeat, do not affect the ship. that means none of the ship weapon perks do anything.

You see what impact your choices had and then in NG you can make different ones. If you're not into that, I wouldn't bother.

The magazine buffs are a tiered group of perks. Each perk has multiple ranks. Each time you find a new magazine, it will increase the rank of the corresponding perks. So they do not "stack" per se, but yes, you retain the perks just like you retain the regular skill perks for the character.

All of the magazine perks have either 5 per levels, or 10, depending on the specific perk category they grants. Here[docs.google.com] is a google spreadsheet that shows the categories and what the bonus/effect is for each perk level.

You get to replay the worst main quest in Bethesda's history slightly differently, isn't that enough?

The only reason I will go through NG+ is to get the achievement for it and alternative Crimson Fleet achievement.

The way NG+ is implemented in this game is thoroughly idiotic.
