Can you board battleships at all !?.
Bethesda promised as much during interviews that players would be able
to board and take over NPC battleships. But here i am now, after shooting
up the engines on an Eclipse battleship for 15+ minutes after taking out
the escorts... and i don't get the boarding option.. i don't even see the engines
getting any weaker ..no indication of my shooting actually doing anything.

Has anyone actually been able to disable the engines on an NPC battleship
using EM weapons and then board it ?.

Yes; have literally pirated dozens of ships. Works fine.

Yep, have lots of boarding. In space and ones that have landed.

That isn't a spoiler haha. OP you just need the tech targeting perk to do this reliably. You don't even need to use EM weapons, just target the engines early after shields drop. For planetside commandeering it helps to have some stealth perks to sneak by the patrols before the ship takes off but it's not necessary.

I'm pretty sure he is talking about the bigger ships.

There are some "legendary" battleships roaming around, along with an escort of several smaller ships (those that we can take).

You can take their systems out, but you can't board them as far as I know.

But given their size you wouldn't be able to use those anyway.

works fine unless you are doing some quest I havent done and your target ship is flagged to not take damage or something

Well, boarding battleships isn't working for me. I've shot out both engines
and shields and i'm still not getting the option to board the ship.
This is a named Eclipse battleship - Camulus

So.. i googled Camulus, and apparently it's a part of a quest,
which means i've wasted xx minutes trying to cap this ship..

everything about boarding on 10 steps!
step 1: acquire targeting control systems perk lvl1
step 2: find a opponent space ship
step 3: fire until you break their shields
step 4: when you locked in, press ''R'' and you will be in the targeting mode
step 5: shoot at opponent ship's engines until it stops
step 5: approach the opponent ship more than 500 meters
step 6: press and hold ''R''
step 7: board the ship and shoot everyone and everything you see
step 8: go to the cockpit and take the loot
step 9: leave the opponent ship or seize it just by taking the pilot seat
step 10 (optional): if you have seized the opponent ship go to a ship services tech and register the ship. by registering the ship you will clean the bodies on you new ship and you will be able to modify it or sell it

For me, I need to think if I understand what you mean?

Only thing I came across like a battleship was a disabled ship site. Huge, could dock, but it wasnt mechanically a ship. Can it be targeted and act like a ship?

The place I found looked like a ship, but in reality was a structure. "Ground" clipped through at one spot.
MagicHp Sep 18, 2023 @ 12:33pm
Guys, OP described it just as it is in game ^^

It's a battleship, described as a "legendary" battleship, protected by 3 smaller (understand standard size) ships.

It's a big ship, with heavy shield, hull, and weapons.
It acts and flies like a ship, you can target it's different systems, but even with all systems off you can't board it sadly.
Destroying it gives a huge Xp reward though.

I think the devs meant you will be able to board battle ships, y'know? Or ships in battle? Because you can board npc ships - regular ones, class A to C. Unfortunately what could be calles battleships - like that Camulus one, big and unique - cannot be boarded, you just destroy it and loot the remains. There are several ships like that in the game, not that much. Everything else is just you typical cannon fodder but hey - at least you can board them, eh?

Also, today i boarded some class C crapship with about 30 enemies on board and with zero gravity. It was probably the first boarding i can call remotely fun.

Had a ship take off with me in the access area before. Clipped me through the floor when it got too high. Definitely recommend using stealth and not just trying to charge through the patrol, blasting everyone XD

Ah and we have the legendary not understanding the english language replies telling OP how to do something which is not what he asked about regular ships vs "battle"ships.....lol
simmerdown Sep 18, 2023 @ 12:47pm
Even it its part of a quest you should be able to board it and take it over imo, just have the game get rid of the quest. Obviously everyone will want to have the best ship possible, weird that they didnt let us. imo this is more important than pronouns, we need to start telling them to make it boardable and stealable. i have a feeling we would only get buggy mods for this. so they need to do it. someone go post in their official forums.
