2.) Disable all overlays (nvidia and steam)
3.) set game to max performance in windows
if that is not enough, I fear only better Hardware will help then.
Go to the stuttering section, install "Battle encoder Shirase"
Worked for me, ymmv
This also fixed the stuttering for me. (maybe all -- started using it this morning; I still need to figure out the "sweet spot" for my setup, but immediately, nearly all stuttering was gone with 8%)
Question: it says to drag the slider from -5% to -10%. Mine started showing at -33% does that mean something or should I just put at -8% either way?
this is proven by the fact that I can have the game load in correct at the same place sometime and other time it doesn't, and the lag doesn't go away, if it was just a loading issue, the lag should disappear after you stop moving for 10 minute, it isn't as if the game does not have a loading screen so by the time you are in the game, there shouldn't be major data transfer, so what is causing lag in the middle of play is not resource loading. it the graphic cache failing because of bad call to the api.
and alot of the time this can be fixed, by just saving and reopening the game, if it was a hardware issue, rebooting the game should not fix it. there is clearly BAD DATA in the game engine. which you can get rid of by restarting the game.
Also wondering if it has to do with the autosaves. I disabled the autosave on pause but have the other options.
I also have some areas where fps drops, even below 40 sometimes. But I have no stuttering issues at all.
You have to clear cash in 3 locations:
- Starfield cash, which is in local files in your C drive.
- Windows Direct X shader cash, which you can clear by going to disk cleanup for your C drive.
- And lastly, the cash for your graphic card, which should also be on C, in your respective card manufacturer folder.
Just shift+delete these shader files, then when the game starts up, it'll start rebuilding shaders.
There are still dips in framerate every now and then, but the constant stutter I was getting is gone.
Constant crashes are linked to poor/faulty memory allocation.
