Ryujin is disappointing
So I started the Ryujin faction questline because I thought it would be interesting and should provide a lot of credits or tech. It does not quite deliver.

The initial quest is kind of entertaining, but also sets up some foreshadowing that doesn't actually happen unless you make specific decisions later down the quest line. This quest pays relatively well, but for some reason the later quests which are arguably more challenging/risky pay less. Ultimately the pay for completing tasks seems to go up and down a lot, and doesn't appear to have any relation to the value you're providing this fictional company. Pick up coffee, 4k. Commit corporate espionage against a rival, 1k.

I don't understand the economy either. At one point in the questline, you're asked by one of the top executives to go meet with a relatively trusted information who has some juicy information. Ryujin will only reimburse 1,000 credits. What the heck is with that small amount? Guns cost more than that. Heck, that's about two med packs. That's nothing to pay someone for sharing corporate secrets with you.

The plot gets a little convoluted as well. It involves a controversial new technology that Ryujin wants to bring to market, and they expect to make them a lot of money. However, this technology acts as a low grade mind control/manipulation. Why would you sell that? Just use it and don't tell anyone. Then you don't have to worry about regulations and the governments banning it, or your competitors using it to improve their own performance. You can just ensure your company makes amazing deals all the time, and no one is the wiser.

Speaking of the new technology, part of the plot is that it needs a specific alloy to be implanted into the human body. A competitor is trying the technology and doesn't have that alloy. However, we have implants today. There's a whole field of study regarding bio-compatibility of implants. There are people ignoring this wall of text who have implants right now. How are they so far in the future with amazing medical technology, but forgot which metals are ok?

The non-credit rewards are also kind of lacking. There's some decent outfits, but nothing particularly amazing. The one good reward from the quest is what amounts to a free tier 4 perk. The character also gets a modest promotion (not executive level) and a small office. In their other games, completing a faction quest usually puts you at the top or near the top of that faction. You have the power to manipulate everyone on the board and you can't even get a management position or a corner office?

I understood it the way that the special metal is for the mind control and/or shielding part, not the basic implanting part.
Otherwise: yeah, I was a bit baffled by the amount of credits as well. Considering that there is a Side Quest Line that gives you 250k, the reward at the end was really underwhelming...might be better to do this early game, where credits still have a meaning :D

I liked the Ryujin plot even though the final mission was rough (had only one point in stealth). the Freestar Rangers Plot was boring if I had to pick a bad one.

That last mission was so poorly designed, and I don't think the stealth system is functioning as intended. I had 3 points in stealth, and the operative outfit, and I took some stealth enhancing meds; and enemies were still getting cautious as I moved. On one occasion I used the 'see star stuff' ability to detect all the people. There was one guy below me looking up at me through the floor with his gun raised, even though I was fully hidden.

Even if you try to 100%, there's a few sections where you need to make maneuvers that still put the enemies as cautious. And when you reach the last objective, the developers decide to troll you with an alarm that's easy to miss disabling. Then you still have to sneak out, and the guy before the elevator could hear a mouse fart in that narrow hallway.

If I ever go to NG+, I'm likely to just try the other routes. I managed to complete it without being caught or killing anyone, but that doesn't appear to bring any extra rewards or anything.

I also only had one point in stealth, plus that suit they gave me. I don't think I would have made it through undetected if I had not gotten that power that makes you invisible for a moment.

I did not like the operative suit quest.

Is there a way to complete it without being detected and without taking anyone out at all? A true ghost play through? I usually have to shoot the turrets

See my statement above. I made it with the help of a power that makes invisible for a short duration, which I needed two or three times. Otherwise I had only one point in stealth and the suit and completed the optional things (heating system)

Yes, but it's kind of nutty. You'll need to activate the heat/gas whatever when you start the mission. You should be able to get through the office area without significant trouble. Then it's on to the research lab with the turrets for some reason.

The first guy you see on that floor outside of the elevator shaft probably needs to be manipulated to get him out of the way. He's also going to be a problem when it's time to leave.

Sneak along the left side and you'll see the first turret. Just ignore it and keep to the left wall, through the vent, down into the showers. Even though it's glass wall and there's guys on the other side, they somehow won't see you sneaking, so just keep going to that office for the computer. Do your thing and pick up the keycard that's on the desk.

Go back to the shower and you'll need to jump and boost up to get back in the vents. If you hold the jump button, you'll get a little more air. Sneak back through the vent towards that hallway you came in from.

You need to jump across to the right side now. This is where it gets starts to get stupid. If you stealth, you can't make that jump, even if you're running while crouching. But if you stand up, you're likely to get spotted by the turret or the guy down the hallway. If you look to the wall and line yourself up with a vent fan, then do a quick little boost jump, followed by immediately stealthing, you should be ok. They'll hear the noise and go cautious, but you'll return to hidden shortly. You might also clip the pipe above and fail the jump, or they might detect you and force you to reload.

Then just sneak along to the right and hug that wall. The turret won't be able to spot you. Once you enter the next area, things get stupid again. There's another turret here, but you can cross atop the pipes and immediately drop down behind some boxes. Then drop down to some shelving. There's no good way to cross here. If you do a quick little boost and stealth again, the turret will start looking for you, but you won't be detected. It's very easy to do this incorrectly and get detected. The guy up top will also start looking for you. As he starts going down the ramp, use your manipulation and stick him in the corner of that ramp. Proceed to sneak past him and up the ramp.

There's a PC to shut off the turrets at the top, and this is another stupid section. The turret can see you, so you have to approach from just the right angle so it's blocked by a sliver of a wall. Reach the PC and shut off the turret. That guy you manipulated will resume his post soon, so drop down over the railing, and you'll be at the door you need the keycard for. Open it, and you're almost ready to steal the prototype.

Enter the room carefully, and probably close the door behind you. That guy from earlier may wander down towards that door looking for you after your jump down. Go further in the room and close the blinds, so the gentlemen won't spot you through the window. Then go to the opposite side of the room and deactivate the alarm on the prototype. Then you can steal it. Proceed out the door you came in.

That guy from earlier should be back at his post, and he has eagle eyes for some reason. You'll need to cross to the hallway on your left at just the right spots so he won't detect you. Go through that hallway and back to the showers. Up the vent and towards the exit.

More stupid stuff. There's that guy at the end near the elevator. If you manipulated him earlier, you can't hit him with it again. You should jump to the opposite side like before, and follow this along the wall to the elevator. Take the elevator and it's finally over.

this doesn't just apply to the last mission, but i got bored of all the sneaking around and if you have too.. then...

you can ignore the stealth, just grab an EM weapon, give your companion one too (+1 ammo) and go in guns blazing...

i actually really enjoyed the quest line. Corporate espionage at its best!

Im not going to make a long winded post to detail it but overall i enjoyed it.

The operator suit you get for the final mission was kinda cool and having the neuro-implant was fun, but yeah, the other rewards weren't on the same tier as, say, free high-level ship from Freestar.
