I don't get the planet scanner...
I always try to look for a good planet where i can e.g. quarry Iron and copper in one spot/outpost. So far so good.

The problem is, everytime i land on a planet which has both elements i zoom in to land on as close as possible at the border of these two minerals. My thought here is, when i do this, there is a high chance to get both materials in one spot (???). BUT i always find only one of both materials or other materials i didn't even search for.

How is this possible or is the scanner very inaccurate?

example: i land on a planet with Cu, Fe and Pb and i find a zone where i could quarry (probably) Fe and Cu with one single outpost. But all i get is Fe and maybe another random or rare material like Uranium or gold. No Cu, although the scanner showed me there should be Cu. I scanned an area of ca. 1km² a couple of times just to make sure if the orbital scanner has small inaccuracies. Another info: my orbital scanner skill is still not leveled but by reading its description it doesn't add accuracy only more rare minerals to the scan.

Long story short, i hope this description was understandable and i am thankfull for every more knowing people. cheers

Nope that's not how this game works. Each biome has certain resources no matter where you are on the planet how do you get multiple resources you ask. Go find out where 2 or more biomes meet then you can get multiple resources where the biomes meet. Is my experience.

Thank you so much! From minute 5:30 was explained exactly what i was looking for.

yup exactly, the planetary scanner it's a scam. Just land close to 2 or 3 biome and you will get almost all res in 1 spot, just need to travel a bit

Yes, thanks for the response. The upper postet video said that there are this and another option. I really searched my ass off by flying around and setting at borders just to get disappointed but one time. xd But i never looked for bioms or just ignored the surface coloring.

The scanner from orbit is not an accurate read of what exactly is down on the surface.

You need to get down there and survey it for yourself to find the true resource boundaries.

I've surveyed over 100 planets.
Try around CAVES ... just found a space where all planet resources have been in a 180m radius to farm all of them ... but it is tricky , better try to place it 270m away from the cave , else half of your building space is gone !

Where you see the smoke , there is the cave ,,, even Water is also there, but already have that at my HQ, where I transport all resources ... you need distribution outposts to collect all your resources at one space

5 links are incoming and from here one link with all resources to my HQ ...

Some good tips here. Also you don't need to get everything in one spot, sometimes it's better to get 1 or 2 large deposits in one spot, then set up a cargo link to another base. Cargo links can be a bit tricky and time consuming to set up, but once you do you can make a nice one stop spot for all your goodies.

Is there a way to delete an outpost you have placed? I was trying to figure out the best way to find an area to scan for birds so I placed then moved the scanning beacon trying to up my hand scanner range. This resulted in there being 3 "outposts" recorded as being active although all I did was put down a scanning beacon which seemed designed to be movable.

Also is there a way you can build directional beacons? The map is very lacking particularly the ground one so it would be very helpful if I could place down a beacon I can orientate myself off. I know the outposts show on the map but since you are limited on the number you can build a simple beacon you could move around would be a great option.

1. The more perk points IN ALL scanning skills (and there are either 4 or 6, depending on how you 'look' at them- provides the MOST details, both at planetary and ground level-
2. WHEN you are at ground level, select a outpost beacon (but DONT plant/activate it)- move it around , until you find at LEAST the minimum number or type of resources you NEED - two is great, particularly iron and aluminum for the beginner, and up to 5-6 or is very possible on the most exotic types of worlds.
3. IF you accidentally establish 1 or more outpost beacons and wish to remove them- travel to the beacon and delete it.
4. As for maps- Bethesda needs to address that, to date, both local (such as in a large city like Atlantis or Akila, or random planetary maps - just don't functionally exist.

Regarding point number three how you delete it is drop out of scan mode stand near the beacon while mousing over it. You will see a rename option that says it uses R, if you instead hold R you get the option to delete it. Most of the time there is a line under the to hold key but it is either not there or it is just to hard to see. This is just another one of the obtuse things Bethesda decided to put in I guess to get people researching and watching videos about the game.

On point 4 I couldn't agree more one of the first mods I will get will be one that does something with the local/ground map.

you can hold R on a placed beacon to remove it.

Need to explore and it is not uncommon to find two elements that be extracted from one Outpost radius section. If the scanner shows two as being abundant on the planet.

I found a spot on one planet that had iron, aluminum, gold, and iridium all available in one spot, problem was, it was too close to an anomaly, so I couldn't build there.....

Yah so 6 hours before you posted that I posted the exact that solution to expand on what william. avery.robinson had posted. Thanks for pointing it out though.
