Also you can use Class A thrusters on a Class C ship to get the higher max speed if you wanted.
Technically the best balanced shield imo is a class B one with 1500 shields.
The third ship that I've got my eye on is a class C, in the 300,000+ range.
Second one that I bought was a B-class for $280,000.
The first, an A-class, for $230,000.
The B and C are the best. One is very offensive, the other is extremely defensive.
I'd never purchase an A-class ship again.
Not that I've seen. Maybe like the guy before you said, I just need a higher level to unlock stuff.
It bugs me that the Starborn ship is far inferior to the ship I ended my first go-round with. They're presented as this super-tech super-ship, then you get one and it's just a solid starter ship... and you can't upgrade it to keep it relevant.
I just built myself a new class-A ship for RP purposes. It's actually a stupidly powerful combat ship in its own right. My gigantic class-C is fun, but I wanted to keep my house relevant.
eh, never got that impression. i was already blowing up those ships on my first playthrough with a regular nasapunk tub pretty handily. its bis for grav jumps which is sensible enough for me
Class C ships can use thrusters like the Sal 6830, which is a quest reward unlock I learned recently(and was able to purchase, but not use at like level 20 on this run), which has a whopping 18000 thrust, and 8800 maneuver for only 2 engine power. These allow you to make some pretty high capacity and efficiency ships with the only sacrifice being a loss of 13% max speed.
I don't remember seeing a class A reactor with more than 28 power. I've seen Class C reactors with 40.
Yeah, I have to admit... space combat is pretty easy overall. It's meant to be there for immersion, I think; this is a groundpounder game at heart. Inferior or not, I know my Starborn ship is still gonna be good enough to get me through the game if I want. Though it bugs me that it lacks a research station, and a bed.
Its armour and ship are not that great, they are only to get you started, as otherwise you would have nothing.
Anyway you should look for an upgrade as soon as.
(sigh) Yeah, I know. Dammit. It looks so good though!
But I like the looks of the Star Eagle. Once I get it, I'll probably kit that out with the weapon mix I like and use it for the rest of the game.
And given the answers I've gotten here, and the fact I will have unlocked more gear for it, I'll probably buff it up to class C for the road
