How is XP in "new game plus"?
Does it slow down to a crawl? I am asking because starting a new game entirely seems a lot easier if I wish to experience a different path of skills, I am level 37 and I havn´t touched the social and gun trees ... mostly been busy with outposts, gun crafting and ship building.

I just did 2 main missions, killed a bunch of baddies and did not level to 38 ... and I took my time. I would actually like to experience the social/gun trees before everything grinds down to a snails pace.

It's less, I think, that XP slows to a crawl in new game+ and more that the higher level you are the more experience you need to advance. Once you've reached new game +, you're no longer at a low, fast-leveling level.

i'm level 44 and it's taking forever now. Seems the only way to level up at a decent pace would be to go on the adaptive frame crafting route on an outpost but I feel like that's cheating.

Do you get XP from auto manufacturing? or does it have to be manually?

I don't know about auto manufacturing but it would be safe to think that you wouldn't get XP. It's building a ton of storage space for iron and aluminium, manually craft the frames and sleep 24h to refill the crates...

you have to craft stuff manually. I'm level 80 and have done one single mission of the main story so far

When you open the starmap and highlight a star system, it also shows a level. The enemies and loot you come across will average toward that star system's level.

XP is solely level based, as far as I can tell. I'm level 46 and NG+2, and the only bonus of XP is that both of the NG+ process that I went through gave me 2 levels to get through. So I got roughly 4 levels by going through the NG+ stages twice. I imagine that if you just NG+ as fast as you can, you would level up a few times. But I would think that would be boring.

I wouldn't worry about leveling up. It will happen. I'm using NG+ as part of my playthrough, not exclusively to achieve more XP or get stronger but running each NG+ as a different path. Fiddled around with first run and main quest, ran UC mission path with NG+1, going to do Freestar now but haven't started yet, just fiddled around a little.

They should have added an xp modifier to each level of ng+
If you're in the mid 100s it's around 15k experience per level.

It feels like you hit a brick wall and XP is much slower

it's very easy to farm XP by just genociding animals on level 75 planets/star systems. Mission XP is only great early on. And you have to grind to unlock the higher tiers of the perk you want to upgrade anyways so...

the combat perk tree has been pointless for me to invest time into since I focused on crafting and social skills cause I don't need a 10% bonus to weapon damage when I can craft it and combat isn't that critical where that would matter.
