no companion will follow me

after the memorial service for sarah morgan I get a message saying she's my companion and I now can't get any other companion to follow me. Is this a bug or was this intentional? I am trying to squeeze all the content I can out of this low story content game and I'm picking up missions off mission boards and things like that rather than finishing the game. I'd much rather do that with a companion.

Try this as a fix, worked for me. Landed on a planet, went outside and had vasco follow me, it worked, removed sara as companion, went back on ship grabbed companion i wanted and they followed me as they should.

Yeah sending Vasco to my ship and then making him my follower fixed it for me too a few days ago… now if only Sarah didn’t want to talk to me from the dead. Stupid quest marker to her empty room.

I can't try that fix, after I took off from new atlantis all the people on my ship disappeared, so there's no one to ask to follow me.

I was able to fix it by going back to the lodge and finding vasco there, he'd become unassigned to my ship somehow, then the next time I landed anywhere I was able to make him a companion and that kicked dead sarah off.

ship as people from the lodge, but non will follow me .

I'm having the same issue but when I assigned Vasco to my ship, it doesn't give me the option to have him follow me any ideas. Ok well I played through and found out that once barrack gets put as your companion it fixes the issue I just had to follow through with the main story line quest. Hope that helps anyone that runs into the same problem.
