Whats the point in weapon and armour skins

I mean come on we have 2 sets the constellation one that can only be added to like 4 things and the mars skin that can only be added to cutters and the mining armour this makes the skins worthless and pointless. I expected like 30 or 40 skins to chose from or unlock through decisions like joining the crimson fleet or the UC vanguard but nope it was just some trash tack on for pre order dlc skins that took 5 minutes to cobble together and that 99.99% of people will never even use.

I think the point is that it makes the weapons or armour look different. Only found the cutter one so far.
