You ... do realize that if you are under leveled you can simply... walk away and come back later.

120 hours in and I don't even know what a Crimson Fleet mission is.

Whatever it is, I can guarantee that I haven't done it.

Time for you do find other things to do.

You have to fight level 50-100 enemies in that mission. Wtf are you even doing. Leave it for later.

50 hours in and never did the "Crimson Fleet" mission so not sure but like others have said you can just go do something else.. there's like 100 missions you can do.. just come back when you have better weapons and more ammo.

Settings/Gameplay/Easy = Do whatever the %$&# you want.
My game goes
Skip main story, tell Sarah to GTFO
Mantis
Star eagle
UC Vs Pirates ~ side with pirates ( starts when you get arrested the first time )
Kill Grandma and steal her cakes
Set up a meth lab
Rule the universe

You get introduced to the Crimson Fleet after doing a faction mission (sorry can't remember which faction, I'm useless with retaining that kind of information!) that requires you to infiltrate them to gain intel, and you have to pretend you wanna be with Crimson Fleet. I'm assuming you can stick with them if you wanna go Pirate after that, a bit like joining the Raiders in Fallout 4. It also gives you immunity from attacks from them elsewhere in the universe, which is kinda cool because I can pretend I'm a pirate when I'm actually planning to double-cross them later.

There are two ways to get the mission.

Doing the UC Vanguard chain will open it up but so will being arrested for smuggling.

* Open your quest journal
* Select a different mission
* Press "plot a course"
* Profit

Every system has a level number next to it. If the mission your doing is in a system with a much higher level than you, maybe you do a different one.

The Crimson Fleet quest line is another one of those Bethesda nuggets.
I got a job to infiltrate them for the UC, basically immediately after visiting New Atlantis the first time, right as you start the game.

Now if you follow this quest for a few missions, you become a Crimson Fleet rookie and told to meet them at their base.

From this point on you can fly around the universe and you won't be hostile to any pirates anywhere. You can land at any location controlled by the pirates and they won't be hostile.

You know what you also can do? Loot everything there. It is not stealing. They don't turn hostile. You can simply land and run over to the big loot box and take it all and leave.
You can also jun run around the whole location and loot every single items you want and no one says ♥♥♥♥.

I am at a point where I am tired of no one being hostile to me that I better go do the Crimson Fleet quest.

Bravo Bethesda... Amazing game.

That's the one! Thanks for reminding me. Like I said I'm not great at retaining information for what I did for who!

And yeah as Don_Salvatore says above you can go into the bases they are occupying, loot everything and leave without them turning hostile on you. Kinda cool. I'm wondering what happens if you DO shoot them though? Obviously the guys in the base will turn hostile, but does the information get back to the Crimson Fleet leaders I wonder that you betrayed them?

I did a "kill this pirate mission" while I was doing the crimson fleet quest.
When I returned to the key they basicly wanted money for me or fight "pay in money or blood".
It was a pretty big sum

Yea, CF has a bounty system like any other faction. Which is stupid.
