Sarah Morgan romancing mistake?

I've been trying to work my way up the love ladder with Sarah Morgan, but I have a feeling that I missed my opportunity long ago. There was an early main quest I was on where Sarah talked about when she was a kid gazing at the stars. I had the option to flirt but I didn't because I thought the game was realistic enough that it was the wrong move for the moment. I've now got one main mission before total game completion and since then I haven't gotten the option to flirt anymore. Did I mess up? Will I still have chances along the game journey with how far i've already gotten? Would I have to go back and start again from that moment to increase the romance?

Not sure, bro. I only took maybe every 2nd or 3rd flirt option (now on 2 character plays) and am about to marry her the 2nd time at mid-20's levels with maybe 2/3 the main quest done. She suggested going somewhere, we went. the waterfall, and Mars... The side quest to see the admiral and back to the planet she was crashed on. That's her personal quest line... & I imagine running it is all ++ affection for her.
I ran with Sam thru the entire Freestar series this time, and back to Sarah, she picked up warm where we left off. You dont have to take every single opportunity.
AND you Do need to actively make gameplay choices she "likes." If you're a thief, assassin, or pirate it's probably not in the cards. For that Go with the dark haired chick?
SO maybe your premise is right, Need to set the tone early that romance is an option to get enough to complete it? maybe.
But with the repeat mode (not spoiling it) you can choose to run Constellation series a 2nd time, and maybe Then you can get with her, technically on the same play through... if you know.

I got like 3 or 4 chances to Flirt with her, but never did, because not liked her. So after doing the friendship thing on the bridge I still could flirt with her on later talking times. Seems it depends on what you did and if she wants to talk to you or not (like after finsihing a faction quest run). Maybe talking about personal parts could lead to that too, but never tried it.

Just keep taking her with you when you go exploring etc. It doesn't matter if you missed the option to flirt or not as it will slowly proceed regardless.

I took every opportunity to flirt with her, it is how you proceed faster as far as I know.

OH btw, check your activity quest list for Sarah's name. If there is one there you can pick up?
When I finished Freestar with Sam of course i let him go and picked her back up as main companion. then I found her activity quest and we resumed her personal quest line. By speaking to the admiral in New Atlantis. Doing that, she got warm to me quick and here we are betrothed...
