Emil Pagliarulo should be fired
Fallout 3, Skyrim, Fallout 4 and now Starfield. Every main story quest that he writes is a complete garbage, he is damaging bethesda games like no one else.

Hot garbage? No not really but after experiencing the VA and cinematic of BG3, this game VA just feels extremely bad in comparison. Audio and cinematic do affect your experience in storytelling. I dont found the story is completely bad but this game do have very weak character. All of your companion really have those stereotypical characteristics that it is really boring to hear.

I have this theory and I have no basis or proof about it. That the story he turns in is good (I won't say perfect or great) and during development it gets a cut here, a chop there and the Final game release, its been cut and pasted so much all meaning and subtext is gone and we are left with what we get.

I base this on Skyrim and Fallout 4 mostly. I can see things gone that should be there. Like looking at a Jigsaw Puzzle where even though the piece used is a piece of sky, you can see it doesn't fit and doesn't mesh but the person putting the pieces together just wants it done.

Again I have no proof, but thats my suspicion just based on how the creative process works in commercial ventures (not ads commercial, but Money Making) .

You wouldn't have that theory if you saw his conference where he shared his philosophy on writing. He essentially thinks that players are too stupid or too disinterested in any kind of complex or layered writing.

I mean he's not wrong. I just like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Mediocre people aren't fired; they're promoted.

Even if he is correct, his entire philosophy of keeping things overly simple to cater to the lowest common denominator of stupid people is completely asinine.

Emil is terrible. He rose to prominence because he wrote the Dark Brotherhood questline in Oblivion which many people thought was the best faction quest chain in the game. Which may well be true, but it's not because Emil's DB story was all that good, it's because the other factions in that game were a complete dumpster fire. But he's been riding that "success" for almost two decades now despite the fact that everything he's written since then has been complete garbage.

Remember when Kojima literally called Americans too stupid to understand Death Stranding? Only Europeans could appreciate the game's story. American were too illiterate to understand anything beyond guns and big explosions.

I still get mad remembering all the absolutely braindead takes on Death Stranding when it released.

It means they are efficient at exploiting others, it's why marketing departments and legal departments are so cutthroat in the industry.

I mean at least with Starfield it's apparent he's dropped a few tabs of LSD before writing it so it's marginally more interesting than his other works.

Again, not wrong, we do have incredibly poor adult literacy rates with a good 26.5% of adults at level 1 literacy, that's only able to read and understand very basic writing. 8.4% are below that

Still a better story than BG3 and the parasite nonsense
