Perking system needs a revamp
ok so the perk system is just bloated with perks also a lot of perks that are locked far into the perk tree are something simple like outpost management or engineering or even something like say the rifle perk to increase damage etc.

If the leveling system gave you skill point based on how high your level is say level 1 would give you the first skill point, Level 2 would give you 2, Level 3 would give you 2, Level 4 would give you 2. Once you hit level 5 you would get 5 skill points to use for perks, Level 10 could give you 5 Etc, But as it is right now is just grind for the sake of grind to give you the feeling your accomplishing something, It doesn't have to be exactly how i did the example, But something similar needs to happen.

Perk trees them selves need to be compact instead of a perk tree that has perks just vomited on the screen.

Certain perks need to be something you have to learn from a certain npc that can train you in that field of work or in this case perk, Similar to how it has been done in oblivion or skyrim except for starfield there is no skill to level and then get that perk, So in this case you would have an npc to train you in the first rank of the perk for say 3500 credits and then if you want to keep training to get more ranks of that perk you would have to do either a challenge or give the npc's a quest that is in the form of an errand for them to then be able to train you in the next perk, Or it could be something say you have to level up to a certain level for them to train you in the next rank.

most likely bethesda them selves won't do this, But maybe in the form of a mod.

i just wanted to share my opinion.

BSG has always used 1 level 1 point. They never add compound increases because all it does is shorten play time.

This is not an MMO. You do not grind in a SP game. If you are doing so, you are playing the game all wrong. There is no "end game content" here. Its just content.

They should just split the perks in half, with separate points for each. Combat and non-combat. It would allow them to balance the game far better.

if you had read the entire thing you would have noticed that i said i wanted to voice my own opinion. Take it or leave it no need to make obvious snarky empty statement, Unless you just want to troll anyone that has a reasonable discussion based on their own opinion. anyway hope you have a good day. I will not be re,replying again. Maybe save some room for others comments yeah.

Yeah I was saying this on day 1 but it was impossible to really have discussion at the time. Some perks have vital necessary unlocks attached to them. You can massively gimp your character if you don't get them. Others are just some percentage bonus that can be completely ignored. Sometimes the important skill is hidden on a higher level of the perk like is the case with Piloting. All the perks look the same so you have to navigate this big tree full of filler perks to try to find the one's that really matter. No respec option available too so you better pay attention or prepare to grind big time later.

Hmm changing the way perks are gained could be interesting, but since they've stayed true to their usual design I don't see why it should be a surprise. And while I usually don't like the massive amounts of perks vs. the levels required to gain them, Starfield is different with the NG+ system. So far, I think it works fine with 1 point per level. I don't feel I'll never get them all and I don't feel I have to make difficult choices.

I would agree with you in other games like Skyrim and FO4 to the point that I have added the mod that lets me get more points per level and I usually go with 3 per level. Right now I don't think I'd use that mod in Starfield.

ah yes NG+ have not quite gotten to that point only because i have been doing so many side quests as well as the main quest, But mostly the long drawn out side quests that i have run into lol. Now its not a surprise to me that they do only 1 point per level its just frustrating with how the perk system just has a lot of perks locked behind other more simplistic perks like for instance you need to spend 5 points to unlock this perk or you need to spend 9 points to get this perk. all im saying is a little revamp would be much appreciated.

But i get your point with NG+ as well as the point of not getting all the perks.

This may help with thinking about moving forward, or not, with NG+. I think it might help because you are worrying about things that worried me in the other games, but just don't feel as worrisome now. I hope it helps.
