Ship stealth
I remember in one of the missions it was explained tutorial-like with messages on screen that to be invisible to enemy ships, we should power down all systems except for one or maximum two notches of engine power.

Did this include powering down shields as well, please? I assume it did, but just wanted to be sure :lunar2019smilingpig:

Has anyone used this tactic to sneak up on hostiles other than in that mission? Like if jumping into a system with everything powered down, will you still be jumped by bad guys on arrival?

I'm picturing me going all frenzy with the keyboard trying to power things back up if I'm detected on entry... :steamlaughcry:

Given how slowly shields recharge, and stop if you get hit a single time by auto-aiming enemies, I doubt this would be a viable tactic. There is also the matter that you don't fly anywhere, you just teleport, and thus have no control over where you will appear.

Makes sense. I might give it a try for a few jumps and see how it goes. Always possible to reload.

Btw, I did those simulator missions for the test to join those Vanguards(?), where you have to do 3 waves to pass, then any extra will give bonuses. The first 4 went fine, but the 5th I had no chance. Blown up again and again... :flammable:

Wonder if these are best done when we have a lot of ship-related skills and high level (was lvl 13 when I did them). Still new to the controls and such...

I ended up using it in a mission where I had to dodge spacers to fix satellites. Just powered it all down and slowboated to the satellites, all good

power down EVERYTHING EXCEPT 2 BARS FOR THE ENGINES NO MORE THAN 2 BARS and it should work but dont fly too close to the enemy ships

It's faster and better loot/xp to just kill them all. Also stealth flying never comes up ever again in the entire game, as far as I can tell.

Thanks guys.

It's an interesting concept in a game, I think, powering down. Like the Serenity drifting past the Reavers in Firefly (the starter ship reminds me a bit of Serenity, btw), and other places I can't remember now. Star Wars :lunar2019smilingpig:

Haven't been jumped in a while, but I'll do some some experimenting. I like stealth mechanics, 'brains over brawns', so to speak :steamsunny:
