Do we need them after the Crimson fleet missions is over? Do they have functionality they tell us they do in mission?

They don't have the function they do in the mission, but they do have bonuses and they're free. You can plug them into equipment slots on top of habs and they're free. You can put them on as many ships as you feel like.

no, they offer shield recharge and shielded cargo chance for example. Their effect is visible in the editor just like all other parts. Just go see

Here's a question, lets say you side with the UC instead of the Crimson Fleet, is there any other place to get them after questline is over?

Have now another ship ,,, so only "Jazz" offers them again after the mission ?
