16GB Ram Minimal Requirement = crash
While i was playing Starfield my ram was only just on the minimal requirement. while i feel there is a memory leak some where that is causing the crashing, just Updated my memory to 64GB on a duel channel at speed of 4000MHZ, Will test later to see if i get the same issue with more ram. as i do not think that it is graphics card related.(Hope not anyway)

For those telling me to do this that and the other, i went through it all, From Admin privileges to verify game files to even Vram alterations.

Will post update at a later date. as work is calling me in.

Mine:
Ryzen 7700
RTX 3060Ti
16Gb RAM
I've had no crashes or freezing. Stutters and very brief FPS drop in cities only but only a few times.

Extra RAM wont be wasted as windows will use any left over for caching files. However in this case I don't think it will help with your crashing.

My setup is:
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G
Redoen RX 570
64GB Ram ( was 16GB)
I am only telling you that assuming a 'memory leak' is a bad meme.

A memory leak would be a critical flaw of the game and immediately hotfixed, since it would affect ALL the over 1 million players.

Saying something is so, does not make it so?

You can easily check if there REALLY IS a memory by opening your Windows resource monitoring tool or even better use PowerToys and monitor the memory usage.

After starting the game, does your 16GB system memory fill up to 100%?

Yes or no.

Throwing RAM at an imaginary problem, does not make it the 'real' problem?

But, hey - 64GB SysRAM is never a bad idea.

I have the sane issue. As soon as it gets close to 16gb it crashes consistently. Usually around 15.5gb. What I noticed is the GPU uses little ram like 5gb and there is shared gpu memory being allocated around 4-5gb. Very odd. Always like that in this game. Seems to be why there is very little gpu vram being allocated.

Win 10
5600x
16gb ram
Rx580 8gb
Installed in SSD

80gb virtual ram allocate
Game uses about 10-15 virtual ram

Guys who have no crashes with 16 ram. What's your GPU using for vram and what's your shared gpu ram usages if any?

Checking tech power up your Radeon RX 570 comes with 4GB of VRAM and this could be the problem. Use the Radeon overlay to see how much VRAM is being used. You may have to lower settings or upgrade as 4GB VRAM these days it quite low.

With Ryzen 5700G and other Ryzen 5000 CPUs its not recommended to run the RAM at over 3600Mhz as this is the sweet spot. Try lowering the speed of your RAM

For me it crashes sometimes but it takes a long time so its not a big deal since i save all the time.
R5 5600X
RX 6600 (undervolted & slightly overclocked)
16GB DDR4 @3200

Not a single crash in 60+ hours of playing so far.
apparently the shadows cause the ram issue and somehow it only happen on polaris GPU. i downloaded the remove shadows and gtao from nexusmods it kinda reduce the ram usage LUL idk man. if u really want to play thats the only way for now.

I had the original 16GB ram at 3200Mhz but still had the original problem while on the lowest graphics. The Ram I am currently using is defaulted at 3600Mhz. While in XMP i clocked it to 4000Mhz but will test it out at its base of 3600Mhz, I will look at graphics cards at a later date due to bills. (Looking at MSI Radeon RX 6600 Mech 2X 8GB GPU)
16GB DDR4 3600 doing just fine.

After looking into it i can say that it is Graphics card related and not ram Issue but i did see it does like to eat ram if you have it spare. After 2 Hours i see that even on low graphic settings it is needing more than what my card can support at this time. I tested for 2 hours via tracing the GPU/CPU and memory and seen that CPU and Ram as have More than 50% of the CPU and ram left. only bottleneck could conclude that GPU lacking. If you wish to see the trace, DM me and I will upload it
Why go all the way to 64?
Why go all the way to 64?
Compare to the rest of what deals the store had it was one of the better deals for 2 sticks. I used cclonline.com to shop for parts. ( able to max out at 128 if wanting to go quad channel but that is over kill)
