Crimson Fleet having a Crime/Bounty system is dumb af.
So it's funny to me that I have less trouble with crime/bounties with the UC and Freestar then I do with the space pirates.
Your first interaction with pirates on foot is watching one dude shoot another dude and it get brushed off as "whatever" but you do it and suddenly "Stop Right There Criminal Scum!"

It sucks cause 1/3 of the places I find on planets is held by Crimson Fleet pirates, so they're friendly. So I can loot anything I want, but can't shoot/kill for EXP. And of course Bethesda Bugs still occur with the bounty system, so even IF I kill all witnesses, for some reason some of the bounty stays. So I'll kill everyone, check the Galaxy Map, and see I owe 30,000 credits which makes looting pointless since I have to use it to pay it back, at a custom terminal at an outpost cause the UC and Freestar ones dont work for Crimson Fleet!

So now I have 2 choices
1: Don't shoot any pirates, making 1/3 of outposts boring loot bags with no EXP gains
2: Shoot every pirate, loot, get exp and level up, but lock myself out of ever going back to the Key Station and have its vendors or pirate missions ever again basically.

Well, they weren't placing bounties on my dude before the UC sent him on their undercover mission, don't know why they care so much after he reluctantly joined them. It feels like the Crimson Fleet are implemented in an awkward way. Like they're supposed to be against the law, yet they have to seek the law for assistance on their behalf because my character needed to step aside a moment and prove himself to the Freestar Rangers by taking out one of their captains. Starting to get the feeling I shouldn't have bothered to take the Crimson Fleet quest line until after I finished the three other factions first.

They just need to remove the whole bounty system from that faction
Unless you're going crazy on the Key, shooting the actual important people or causing trouble there, I feel like they shouldn't give a crap.

I agree with u its insane this bounty...I have already 97000 credits bounty on my head from the Pirates of Crimson Fleet so I think about to restart from load game and kill all of them so no witness left or to stop kill them...This is gonna destroy my gameplay...

Even if you kill all witnesses the game likes to keep *some* bounties
Most times you kill them all you still have the 650 Bounty on you from the initial Assault.
Sometimes however you'll have 1-3 deaths worth from 15,000 credits to 45,000 credits
And it still *sucks* you can't pay Crimson's bounty off in Freestar or UC space.
Nope, you HAVE to start an outpost and slap a terminal down.

How is this much different from Skyrim or Fallout 3 where you'd be minding your own business, Get ambushed by bounty hunters and then read on the note they were sent by raiders/bandits?

Because you can just off those raiders/bandits, whereas here you've got an actual bounty that the game punishes you for.

Also, if you side with the Crimson Fleet and decide to actually "pirate" anyone in the UC or FS, the game's main companions freak the ♥♥♥ out, effectively destroying your relationship with the game's only fully fleshed out followers.

It's a very poorly thought out system.

Why wouldnt the Pirate faction have a bounty system?
Do you think they are unable to determine significant threats to their interests and act accordingly?

Or like if in Fallout 4, you suddenly get ambushed by a group of Gunners who let you know you've crossed a line by getting on the wrong side of some forgettable raider gang earlier on. I don't even remember the two being on good terms, if any terms for that matter. Like, why should the mercs care if I blast a few pirates?

Based on what I've read, I'm just doing the Crimson Fleet questline after everything else possible
Tantrumus Sep 14, 2023 @ 10:22am
this was my #1 problem for the majority of dpung the undercover work for UC.....Just rush through that questline kill delgado ded and enjoy killin pirates again :P :P

After that game fun again!

I had same thing happen early on....took a freestar rangers mission and then had a 75K bounty (fixed that with console cmds) on me when I returned. This questline really jacks up others alonh the way.....get it done first and never look back at a Pirate unless in your sites.

Because the pirates/bandits/raiders are paying the mercs to care.

I'm in the same situation with that UC quest line. You can kill freely kill Crimson Fleet if they're individuals that are isolated and no one else is close to them to alert and create a bounty. The Brigands will definitely create a bounty when attacked. It's kinda nice though to just be able to walk up to an outpost with Crimson Fleet and they don't attack you so that you can quickly loot. The other side is that I do want to level weapon skills so less killing means slower leveling.

yeah those places can have substantial loot too. I found one locked crate once that had like 10 contraband items...lots of creds.

but honestly Im happy that Im back to having fun shooting them again

I can't pay the 300k bounty I didn't know I was accumulating. But they still don't aggro during missions.

I just think it's really boring doing a main story mission that seemed designed for combat, and all the pirates just stand around saying the same lines over and over.

Which is I killed them and can't advance that quest anymore until I get rich.

FYI, you can pay your bounty on planets; I utilized the Tracker Bounty station on Cydonia (Mars) just a few mins ago so I could get back to the Key for my super secret spy mission.
