Didn't have much of a problem before either.
But then my PC is kinda new, no funny stuff, no FPS overlays and i certainly haven't been looking around the interwebs on it. just as pure and as stripped down as i can make him.
I'm starting to suspect it's the MOBO's tbh, everyone posts their cards, Proc's, RAM and SSD's but not their pipes.. and that dear fiends.. is the most important part of our PC's
Also, might be worth mentioning but many of those suffering lots of crashes with the driver updates, is likely due to mods. Not necessarily the cause for everyone, but definitely a very real one.

with 32GB xmp 6000 RAM
updated nvidia driver with clean install, updates vbios on the gpu, updated bios on mobo, turned on resize bar and now getting a bit better performance
I gained 4-6% performance. No crashes.
You should hold off the pr0n and do a virus scan.
