Steam is not giving me credit for joining the vanguard.. I've run this entire quest 3 times now and nothing.. no mods loaded, no console commands. anyone else having this issue?

Sorry worked for me, But I will say if you hit the console key and got the warning about console commands disabling achievements then your save files has been flagged as modded already. You will have to find the answer to fixing this on the net. It happened to me, I have big hands and I was trying to hit esc to pause the game and got my save's files flagged.

gotta go to documents and delete a lil console file in your starfield

this not true... I've accidentally hit the key a few times (with the warning) and cheevos still popping...:-)

Potentially that, but one also has to do the Grunt Work mission to get the achievement, since you join at the end of it.
