That's NOT what they say. They DO say that they have "sensors" that can "hear" gunfire and will react accordingly. A silenced weapon should have no "sound" and the sensors dont go off and blare an audible alarm. The security just starts shooting.
It does however use suppressors. Which suppress the sound of gunfire. It doesnt and shouldnt eliminate any sound.
Now that I think of it all weapons should be silent in low or no atmosphere.
Would be cool to hack a computer to turn off life support...oh well.
Silenced weapons definitely have sound. Watch a video. They make more sound than you may think. Silencers just drop the sound by a few decibels.
If you would have "read properly" you would have seen I used quotes around the word "hear". Pay attention. Your elders are speaking.
I know perfectly well what suppressors do and don't do. I'm speaking about a video game. Not real life.
Now, saying that, IF YOU SHOOT SOMEONE on the Star Cruiser, with a weapon that is NOT suppressed, that ALARMS start blaring in-game. Using a "silenced" weapon, the alarms did NOT go off. My problem is that security forces seem to hear it, 100 yards away, with their backs turned and not paying attention.
Firing a weapon doesn't break the quest. Just kill the a-hole, grab the info you need off him and fight your way out. I just ran past all the security guys with a damage resistance item active.
Yeah there's still a pretty valid issue in the game AI processing of suppressed shots. The suppressors are essentially pointless.
While I haven't fired irl a suppressed .50, certainly that would still be loud enough to alert nearby guards. Have fired a suppressed 9mm and .22 Cal, and with subsonic rounds are pretty darn quiet. A properly suppressed .22 sounds whisper quiet like one of the old skool BB rifles. (I think .22's are subsonic by nature, if I remember correctly, simply not enough powder)
In Starfield, the gunshot aggro is totally broken lol. You can suppress any of the pistols and one shot will still agro an entire Merc base lol. There's no reason whatsoever Spacers on the other side of a base 500 meters away should aggro over 1 shot from a suppressed .27 Cal lol.
