A silenced weapon isn't silenced?
On the cruise ship to steal the award and deal with Mr. Larry. Thing is, it's "optional" to kill him. I got what i needed and silently offed him. With a SILENCED weapon. Security is all over me. Soon as I leave his room I'm being riddled full of bullets. What gives? Why does a SILENCED weapon draw the attention of security when they did NOT hear it. Nor did the "sound system" that supposedly listens for gun fire.

They literally tell you they can sense it instantly if someone dies, Maybe don't skip dialogues next time, or just learn to read

Ya, I attempted to off this guy to get his data card in New Atlantis. I waited for the sole security to leave. No one was around at all. I used a dagger, and immediately I was attacked by a swarm of guards, even though I was still in stealth including a Chameleon pack. I sprinted, jumped the wall and left and dropped back into stealth, hoping that once the aggro cleared, I'd be ok. But I still had a bounty, so I scum saved and abandoned the quest. The alternate path was to break into some scientific headquarters and delete files saying this guy was a bad guy. lol messed up.

That's NOT what they say. They DO say that they have "sensors" that can "hear" gunfire and will react accordingly. A silenced weapon should have no "sound" and the sensors dont go off and blare an audible alarm. The security just starts shooting.

They have sensors that can sense gunfire, not hear. Read properly.

Starfield, much like real life doesnt have silencers.
It does however use suppressors. Which suppress the sound of gunfire. It doesnt and shouldnt eliminate any sound.

In space no one can hear you pew pew.

Now that I think of it all weapons should be silent in low or no atmosphere.
Would be cool to hack a computer to turn off life support...oh well.

Silenced weapons definitely have sound. Watch a video. They make more sound than you may think. Silencers just drop the sound by a few decibels.

If you would have "read properly" you would have seen I used quotes around the word "hear". Pay attention. Your elders are speaking.

I know perfectly well what suppressors do and don't do. I'm speaking about a video game. Not real life.

Now, saying that, IF YOU SHOOT SOMEONE on the Star Cruiser, with a weapon that is NOT suppressed, that ALARMS start blaring in-game. Using a "silenced" weapon, the alarms did NOT go off. My problem is that security forces seem to hear it, 100 yards away, with their backs turned and not paying attention.
The quest tells you that if you try to kill anyone the alarm will go off. It senses lifelines or some garbage.

As others have said and you apparently understand, but choose to ignore or something, the game explains that you cant fire any weapons onboard the ship. Now that that is cleared up lets move on...
Firing a weapon doesn't break the quest. Just kill the a-hole, grab the info you need off him and fight your way out. I just ran past all the security guys with a damage resistance item active.

Ever hear .308 subsonic rounds with a suppressor? Sounds like someone dropped a coin on a metal surface

silenced weapons dont mean they make no sound, it means reduced sound. if your going to complain about something not "working right" atlease know what your arguing.

literally explained the ship had vibrational sensors that would detect gunfire in the opening dialogue on the ship

Yeah there's still a pretty valid issue in the game AI processing of suppressed shots. The suppressors are essentially pointless.

While I haven't fired irl a suppressed .50, certainly that would still be loud enough to alert nearby guards. Have fired a suppressed 9mm and .22 Cal, and with subsonic rounds are pretty darn quiet. A properly suppressed .22 sounds whisper quiet like one of the old skool BB rifles. (I think .22's are subsonic by nature, if I remember correctly, simply not enough powder)

In Starfield, the gunshot aggro is totally broken lol. You can suppress any of the pistols and one shot will still agro an entire Merc base lol. There's no reason whatsoever Spacers on the other side of a base 500 meters away should aggro over 1 shot from a suppressed .27 Cal lol.
