Why do I have to register ships?
When I steal cars irl I dont then take them down to the DMV. Why make ship stealing so unprofitable by requiring registration?

They could just have the ship sell for a percentage like all the other items.

Your still making a few k per ship so that is a percentage i guess.

Uh, the reason why you don't take stolen cars to the DMV is because they would throw you in prison 😂

You can steal those ships without registering them.

You just can't sell them without registering them first, so the price can be easily controlled.

Most likely the formula depends on how many pieces the ship is built with, their price and class, etc

Why do they need to balance a single player game? If you dont want to rob ships and sell them for money... you can mine and sell ore... you can just kill people and take there money... who gives a ♥♥♥♥? Its a sandbox world designed so that YOU are the main character in the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ universe. Let me sell the damn ship.
Because pirates require paperwork too!

There's a quest where you deal with someone who purchased a stolen ship.

But finding a buyer like that would not be easy.

I’m waiting for a mod that lets me do crime with an unregistered ship without racking up a bounty that sticks to my character.

You will still turn a profit every time, but as others have said it's all for the sake of balance.

Because you want sell them at your local car dealership? There is no where to sell them minus where you buy and sell LEGAL ships in game. And real life you would be selling them to part shops or local illegal groups for pennies on the dollar of what they are worth lol

They already do that...

Surely they could of come up with something better?

Like selling them for a reduced price at the key or a story arc around stealing and selling non registered ships to the syndicate.

You usually end up with a high bounty stealing UC or FS ships to counter the profitability already
