[LORE] Implausible That Religion Disappeared (Jesus et al.)
Hello all,
Noticing the same world-building motif that Mass Effect had wrt to religious pantheon of future humanity: namely, that all contemporary religious diversity completely disappeared within a few centuries and was replaced with new spiritualities. Mass Effect had meeting aliens as an excuse for this, but what was Starfield's? In Cyberpunk, my cyborg character got 3 fully-voiced prayer options. Makes it hard for me to roleplay my new character, because I don't really understand the Starfield religions.

Woke games almost universally hate Christianity (as well as most God -fearing religions in general). That's one of the scary things about woke games when you think about it.

If anyone seriously thinks religion (including Christianity) will be gone 2-300 years in the future or whenever, aliens or no, they are seriously deluded, but that's woke for you.

Babylon 5 knew religion would still exist in the future with aliens a popping everywhere. In fact it only strengthened religion

p.s. I was always impressed with New Vegas as it treated Christianity very fairly showing some real knowledge on it. Pretty sure one of the Devs or writers who worked on that game was a Christian.

Not all versions of Christianity. But maybe yours, sure.

Islam should be the vast majority of the religions left when this game takes place. It would force convert everyone else before it would ever stop existing on its own. There should defo be some Mosques around on some planets.

If you've ever had to deal with being at a family event with relatives from different Christian sects you understand exactly why they are vague about details. A lot of Christian sects believe all other sects are secretly devil worshipers. At my cousin's wedding both churches refused to host and the bride's family refused to come at all because they were from different sects. ♥♥♥♥'s wild.

Maybe Starfield just needs cults to be more realistic? Not that we need realism in a game. Cults are still a thing, even in 2024. All you have to do is look at all the people strutting around in red hats worshiping a lifelong con artist. Always a new silly cult forming somewhere.

Look at the NPCs that are running around the cities. Can you actually imagine any of them being in any kind of cult ? On drugs? totally. A cult?!

Can't exist without some made up belief keeping your life in order? typical.

They spent to much time working on method acting RP, maybe next game they will work on your imaginary friends.

You might not care about imaginary friends, but there are lots of people out there whose only goal in life is to make sure you follow their imaginary friend or delete you from life.

Sure, just as there are some that want you to believe their BS identity method acting as real or delete you.

I don't really care what they add in game to enrich the story, as long as it's a good game and they fix things in a timely manner when they charge a AAA+ price. They seem to fail at both making the OP dreams come true and standing behind their overpriced game.

When they mixed 💩 in dirt to get a better yield from their crops I don't think they had proving religion right or wrong in mind.

Just a reminder religion didn't disappear in Starfield. There are three major religions: Enlightened (they have tenants and rituals so they count), Universal, and House Va'ruun. These exist to stand in for real world religions because Bethesda isn't Obsidan, they do not have the tact to have real world religions in their games without offending somebody.

Me personally I work from the headcanon that Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Jews, ect all exist, they just don't flaunt their religious leanings to a random passerby same as most of the other characters.

Muslims and fundamental Christians not flaunting their believes in public is an Oxymoron.
