it has some pretty serious core design issues
if you were a modder would you mod starfield which is going to be an uphill battle and enjoyed by.. not many people or would you mod something like skyrim or fallout that are easy to mod, enjoyed by many and are built for modding?
If they take long enough to finish it right people will get mad at them
I am sensing a common factor here and it isn't BGS
I am betting they will take time and release it with some oversight either way and ppl will get mad at them except for fanboys who would go into fire for Todd xD
like how some games have a built-in map editor or some way to share maps.
or spawn player created outposts as POIs..
the one good side to not having any online gameplay.. is that it makes it much easier to mod i guess..
but after stacking storage crates for a minute.. you're like woah take it easy with the building mechanics boys lol
Some examples:
- Duplicate many POIs and edit each copy to make a better variation than what the core game does. Some examples, POIs with many animals, change key loot positions, change keys and locked doors, add key vents paths, create new computer and notes story/lore for the POI. Most of the POI is already done it's just about edit it to make a significant and good variation. Do it for 10 POIs, 3 time each and you boost amount of POIs. Then you add a player option so a POI variation played isn't reused until each variation is played.
- Change in deep some factions to make them deeply different in combats, for example for Spacers add many dangerous close range, add many using mostly exclusively grenades, or even can throw mines too, make the whole faction as hard to fight than others.
- Add wandering routines in procedure generated areas, shoppkeeper with guard traveling between POIs of an area, animal herds traveling between or around some POIs, create animal events of successive herds attack a POI or just player or an outpost or ship landed.
- Add player options for difficulty and enemy scaling.
- Many many more.
And I don't quote the obvious, obtain a planet or two and make for them much better areas pre defined and widely hand crafted. And many more.
