Why base game cost 88$ in Poland?
How come game that is advertised to be 69.99 USD cost almsot 30% more on steam for Polish costumers? Its 349 PLN which is little over 88 USD. Even if it 70 euro then we have to pay almost 80...

They control the cost globally to make sure that they don't have too many players downloading and crashing the internet.

Not sure sorry, what is the average for new AAA games in Poland? Do they vary quite a bit?

Poland has a higher cost generally than the US for most games. Be glad you aren't in mexico, they have the highest cost overall for some reason for starfield.

It is ok, as we get great games like this once in the decade or some.

It's $89.99 here in Canada, where everything costs us at least 35% more just because. The sad part is that many professionals leave Canada to work in the USA, because wages are better there. Our wages stink. We literally pay more for everything, based on how much of our annual income an item's cost uses. From eggs to games, it sucks. Also, our health care is far from free. Dental care isn't free at all.

Surprised it's not Brazil... they get raked over the coals constantly. I think some previous games were literally like an entire months salary for some people.

Yeah, it's not right to treat people that way. Obviously it's completely impractical for the majority of people to "just move somewhere else", let alone undesirable for a host of legitimate reasons (namely family).

From the stats I read a while back, the "bottom 80%" of Canadians earn less than the average American. So the vast majority of Canadians, including the poorest among us, live off less money and pay more for everything. And there is almost no movement upwards, with most people in this group becoming poorer since the pandemic. Add to that the increasing cost of healthcare, due to deregulation and privatization, and the removal/reduction of other social safety nets, and there's very little financial benefit to being Canadian vs. being American.

Quebec and Newfoundland have true social identities, but the rest of Canada are basically just poor Americans.

I know, "no one cares". It's just nice to get it off my chest. Fare thee well, citizens of the stars! :)

Brazil it is likely more expensive to the end consumer due to they have an insane tax on it. I am only referring to the base price.

$90 cad is ~67 usd. It is actually a cheaper base price than the states slightly.

It's based on currency changes. It's possible that the dollar is going up in value because inflation is going down here. So the dollar might be worth more at the moment. I think Steam has some thing where they try to balance the values out. I have no idea how they do it though.

It isn't so much dollar is worth more at the moment due to inflation going down. The dollar has been generally rising in value compared to other currencies for quite a while even during our record inflation. Why? We weren't actually as bad as it was elsewhere. The issues leading to US inflation were not local, they were global. The euro even hit sub 1 usd exchange rate during the peak of us inflation.

Yup, we essentially get taxed twice on products cause of our amazing monopoly money.

Keep in mind that the US price you're looking at is without tax where as in Poland you'd expect 23% on top.

349 ZL inc tax today, pre tax is 284 ZL which in USD is $70

The cost of the game in Poland was probably set a number of months ago when the conversion rate to USD was better, finances are set way in advance and this time last year it was 4.54 Zloty to 1 USD vs 4.05 today.

Taking that into account the 284Zl becomes $62.50 a year ago.

Mostly because of your awesome country taxes i guess... blame your locals.
