Funny how the "Bible of Sci-Fi" that is Dune didn't have any intelligent aliens, just a few species of alien flora and fauna (ie Sandworms). Everything else were either mutant humans, mutated animals or bio engineered creations made from Earth species DNA.

not sure if you can really call it the bible of sci fi when you have that war of the worlds broadcast around world war I and I want to say that isaac asimov guys was writing well before dune.

Influential sure.
Hence the quotation marks, but many believe that Dune is the bible of modern Science Fiction. The book that inspired half a generation after it was written, in the same way Tolkien inspired fantasy, even though Lovecraft came first.

But sure, Verne, Wells and Asimov were pioneers, yet for some reason people love themselves some Dune and call it the "Bible."

I personally like Larry Niven's Ringworld "Known Space" universe and Phillip Farmer's "To Your Scattered Bodies Go" stuff more. I find Dune has great world building and backstory, but its plot is Machiavelli meets 'The Chosen One' and yet it's still considered one of the best Sci-Fi novels ever written.

Well, Asimov also has no aliens in his Universe... And War of the Worlds, though impactful, was only one small story and the setting was quite simple.
I personally consider fantasy and sci-fi the same thing. I guess others don't so you'd separate things like Tolkien etc. I suppose if you separate the two, in terms of world building, Dune stands out a bit more; and i suppose with the Dune Messiah and desert like conditions of the main planet you get more of those religious comparisons, hence "the bible" of sci-fi that you mentioned.

And that book(s) shows you can have a sci-fi like story without "aliens".

Though maybe a question of what do we consider to be alien is also in need of an answer?

Isn't Brave New World also rather old? I thought that had several exploration topics and a decent story from what i remember and I don't think that had any "aliens" per say either, though I think it touched on "human" from different perspectives.

I guess I find it rather odd people consider Dune to be "the bible" of sci-fi when there are stories of Thor, dragons, cats in egypt, and not to be controversial but the religious books themselves.

The mistborn triology of books I'd have to say are probably some of my favorite books. I don't recall to many "alien" like stuff in that, had decent world building and story line. But that came later, but I digress.
I hope the intelligent aliens/extraterrestrials will be hidden until the conclusion of the game. Makes them more mysterious and special, I guess. Also, the theme of "First Contact" would be have a more special feeling (akin to how special it will be to find life outside Earth.)

And promptly get sued by EA, as I think they're sitting on a trademark for "The First Contact War" for a game they will probably now never make after Andromeda's failure.

If there are intelligent aliens still alive out there in Starfield, I hope they limit it to just one. Especially with the NASA-punk at least superficially "Scientifically accurate" atmosphere they're going for, having 20 different kinds of alien in only a 50LY area around Sol is absolutely absurd, even having 2 (Humans and another) is astronomically (Pardon the pun) unlikely.

According to leaks, there are around Nine alien 'races' though but this was very early 2018 leaks, and obviously it being a leak it could just be a straight up lie, but pretending it wasn't a lie, it could just not be true anymore. Vestigial things they were trying in the early development cycle that was later cut.
Maybe we can romance the aliens and have a robot companions?

Nay, you just don't call it that or just never name it because it hasn't ended.

A lot of times wars aren't named until decades later.

plus EA/Bioware only has references so you can't really copy something that doesn't really exist other then by name.

They were making a spin-off game at one point called the First Contact War, the trademarks were filed around the time of Mass Effect 2. I don't know if they still have them active, but megacorps LOVE to horde IP/Trademarks and the like.

But yeah, if Bethesda calls it something else, like literally "The war of first contact" it's fine. And again, we're only talking about naming of a game, they can call it whatever in the actual game's story/dialog.

Someone Copyrighted the word "The" last week. Don't underestimate copyright trolls.

You might not be understanding how it works though, they can't copyright the said-phrase "First Contact War" they can Copyright it as the title for a product. So as long as no expansion/dlc or game is called "First Contact War" then it's all fine.
what? Who said that the enemies will not be aliens? It is a game about eploring spalce and planets. The enemies will be only aliens. in the summer festival gameplay we see that the enemies are aliens. Why do you think that it will not have aliens? It is impossible that a game in space and another planet that will not have alien enemies. All or at least most enemeis will be aliens. Or else i will fail because it will be another military fps if it has only humans enemies. But 9/10 will be aliens.
I hope the aliens are mostly our friends
