When will it be best to start a new game?

I'm looking to give Starfield a second effort with the upcoming DLC release. From what it looks like, the DLC content is mostly going to be centered around specific areas, so it seems like starting a new game now might not be a bad idea?

I'm not planning on adding mods yet, so I don't think I have to worry about patches breaking my saves? And I think that would hold true if I were to start this new playthrough on the current beta branch, yes?

is there anything that's being added by Shattered Space that would warrant holding off on a new playthrough until the DLC releases? New character creation stuffs, or new starts or anything of the like that's been marketed that I've missed?

If you aren't planning to add mods for awhile, then now is probably the best time. You have no real reason not to. Much of the Shattered Space content appears to come later. Not something you can immediately jump into until a certain level.

Start a game now because you will want to be sufficiently leveled up to play Shattered Space.
