Is it possible to break "The Burden Of Proof" mission?
Im retracing my steps trying to gather up evidence. I think i only got like 10 of 20 the first time trough. So my question is, does the game react like a normal game would and close the quest if its impossible to finish? Cause that certain ship blew up and idk if i got all the evidence. Or does the game go Todd Howard style and im stuck with an unfinishable quest on my list?

all beth games have quests where you can break their state/script beyond all repair. I do not know if you managed to do that here, but you certainly can do it in plenty of other places in the game.

If memory serves, there's at least one evidence that you can't get if you miss it during the playthrough and the quest never closes until you turn them all in. I believe there's a mod with a bat file to give you them all.

No, you cannot break this quest unless you have a bunch of mods installed.
You don't need everything, you need just "enough" in order to get the authorities to send reinforcements if you ally with SysDef. Some evidence is missable but that's not the end of the world. There are much more evidence out there than needed. The quest is considered finished when you are informed that the reinforcements are being sent but you still can turn in evidence if you find more. If you struggle, look online for the locations.
Obviously, if you side with the Fleet the quest is no longer available.

No i mean i already allied with sysdef and the mission is done. I want the actual mission gone from the list of active missions. I have to get all the evidence for a legendary weapon i believe.

Turns out you dont even have to get all of them. An extra prompt to talk to the mission giver will appear once you have enough. 16-17 should do it

If you go to New Game+ all your unfinished quests are closing.

Yes, I believe you get Memento Mori only if you submit every piece. I got this weapon a few times.
The mission is supposed to be gone from the list after you are told that the government officials finally decided to send reinforcements. I think you need to ask Ikande, he will tell you if you gathered enough evidence to “convince” them or not. You can continue to submit evidence even after the Key is captured, without this quest being active. But you get the reinforcements only if you collect enough evidence prior to the attack.

I'm pretty sure you can always complete it. IIRC, you need to give 20 pieces to complete it, and there are 24 in the game, with only 4 of them being missable. So you should always be able to finish it.

edit : "There are over 20 pieces of evidence to be found, but only 15 are required to "complete" the quest."

No I can confirm I always get it upon completion. You can't actually submit every piece, the quest ends before that.

About MM, you might be right. Re: submitting evidence, yes, you can submit evidence after finishing the questline by talking to what’s-her-name. I’ve done it myself. There is a dialogue option and if you happen to have additional evidence in your inventory you can give it to her. With my current character I submitted at least 3-4 slates this way. I don’t recall at which point I received MM. If it happened before I gave her those 3-4 slates then it indeed proves that you were right about not needing to submit every piece in order to get the gun.

yes I meant submitting all evidence before completing the quest is not possible, and you get the gun reward upon completion, not after submitting the 5 last pices.
