Yes you can buy them from the local "mechanic" at the spaceport
^But yeah, at least now we have an easy way to purchase Va'Ruun ships.
I also created a topic on this - it's a massive oversight and immersion breaking. Particularly when you speak to the Ship Technician in Dazra who says he rarely gets the chance to work on ships from the Settled Systems, then sells only Stroud/Eklunds.......
I always assumed Va'Ruun using Strouds was placeholder.
I can agree that them having unique ship parts would have made sense. However, for those who travel in the Settled Systems (zealots, etc.) they need ships that can be repaired and serviced in the Settled Systems, and thus not have unique parts but instead local parts so if nothing else they can salvage what they need. So I can accept either feature, though granted using existing Settled System parts means less work for BGS ... so ... yeah.
Doesn't Walter also state that Stroud-Eklund parts and ships are found in the hands of "less than reputable groups". I figured he was implying the Crimson Fleet, but this could also apply to Eclipse and Va'Ruun. This could indicate House Va'Ruun stealing the ships or breaking them down to create their own ships. Rather than bothering to manufacture their own.
Well the zealots we have in RL don't make their own weapons, they buy them from the US, Russia, China, etc. It's amazing who you justify selling to when it's all about the money. Just take a close look at Ron Hope as ask yourself if you think he would sell to anyone.
Yes. One blocky ship looking uglier than the other.
I stuck with my (stolen) Eclipse Claymore. There wasn't a single mission requiring a ship anyway so why even bother with anything Va'Ruun on the ship side?
I could understand it for roleplay reasons.
Not a terrible point re. Zealots using random ships etc. But, for me it doesn't excuse the lack of a House Va'Ruun manufacturer; the game really needs one. Given the work that has gone into the DLC to give them and their homeworld such a distinct look and feel, it seems ridiculous for this not to extend ship building. Fingers crossed that it is in the pipeline; it seems inconceivable that the only ship manufacturers in the game will only ever be what's there currently.
welll... about that.... one very well known example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khyber_Pass_copy
