My Controller thinks I have two Left Triggers *only in this game*
I have no idea how this has happened. I'm playing with a DualSense controller because, it's what I've got. Reinstalled the game to try out Shattered Space, and after running normally for a while the game has suddenly decided that I have no Left Button. I do! Every other game I own works fine and the controller is perfectly OK - I can see that it works correctly in Steam's input testing. It's only in Starfield where there's an issue.
I've done all the basic stuff like toggling Steam Input settings; I've verified my game files; I wiped and reinstalled the controller's software; I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game. It doesn't matter if I play my newer saves, old ones or even go New Game. No luck! I have two Left Triggers and that's it.

The game's not unplayable in the literal sense, but it might as well be? Without being able to use the scanner it's just broken.
Anyone have any ideas? I've never run into something like this.

Are you using steam input?
I do but I have to as far as I can tell, if I turn it off the game won't recognise the controller whether it's plugged in or not. I've tried all the combinations of that setting I can think of and the only one that detects the controller at all is steam input enabled.

Just toggling it has not helped either if you were going to suggest that sadly.

I was just wondering because I had issues in another game caused by Steam input. Sorry I can't be of better help.
Actually, sorry - technically it works with steam input on or just on 'default settings', where I believe it's using the Playstation Controller Support setting in Steam; I have that set to "Enabled in Games w/o Support".

No problem! I've had problems with it too on occasion, but I've never been unable to fix it like in this case, or picked up a permanent remap of the controller I guess.

Ok. Maybe try this?

Open StarfieldPrefs.ini
Change bGamepadEnable=0 to bGamepadEnable=1

I'm grabbing straws here. lol
