This DLC
Armours weaker than base game. Weapons too. No unique weapons. No new ship parts. No new powers. One side quest takes longer than the entire DLC storyline. Which I might add forces you through a route. Even some of the stuff shown in the trailer isn't there such as meeting the Serpent.

The map's terrain makes using the vehicle a chore, so you're back to running for 1.2km of emptiness.

The vendors don't even sell Varuun gear! They sell the basic normal stuff you found off Spacers before, but now it is all at advanced level at the vendor. Not even a generic item with a unique name available.

You can finish the storyline by starting the crusades up. Which, 2 of 4 companions get unique responses to. Andraja doesn't react at all, and Barret get's his generic "I'm angry" dialogue.

New ship parts? Nope. You can buy Hope tech and all the other manufacturer's though! And their ships only use those components, so no new varuun styled ships either.

The new melee weapons? One. There is 1 new melee weapon, a long knife.

3 new guns. A varuun sniper, 2 varuun handguns, 1 particle, 1 laser, and 1 laser varuun rifle. All weapons are vastly inferior to the Eternity's Gate you get at the end of the main storyline for killing the Envoy or whatever the lady was called.

The vortex horrors they bigged up? You see them 3 times. There are quests bugged. The final set piece was cool, but was essentially the same as escaping the exploding ship mission, just with more void stuff.

I'm just finishing up the last few side quests now. 2 of them are ok. The rest are just fetch/delivery quests.

There seems to be whole parts of massively cut content. Named npc's mentioning problems but no quest available. Shops present with an icon, but no quest and can't purchase. Multiple special locations like a Spacers camp, but no quest.

The horror element they advertised? First mission that begins the DLC only. After that, the concept is entirely dropped for flashy space magic with spotlights. The new zero-g combat they promised and marketed? One. There is one set piece with zero-g, and it is the first mission.

They mentioned "oh, there will be new stuff if you go through the unity and do it again!". Nope, Because they were lazy and coded it as a true/false value on whether you went through the Unity at all. So if you did, you get unique dialogue options the first time through to say you already know what is going to happen. Good job.

I'm going to hold back on putting a negative review for the DLC right away. I want to finish everything, let it stew, and then see what's what. But currently? Massive letdown.

WOW great game! I can hear the fans uninstalling the game even now.

There's a known bug that stops companions from commenting much if you have any of the leadership perks. The dialogue for Andreja exists, but may be prevented from firing.

Armor being weaker or stronger is likely to do with what level you entered and if you hit a cap. Everything I'm finding is far stronger than anything else I had prior, because I was nowhere near any kind of gear cap.

"Armours weaker than base game. Weapons too. No unique weapons." - no, they are not.
"The vendors don't even sell Varuun gear!" - yes, they do. Va'Ruun gear is only sold at the Keep Armoury.
"Andraja doesn't react at all" - yes, she does, especially if she is your waifu. You can even meet her parents.?
"3 new guns. A varuun sniper, 2 varuun handguns, 1 particle, 1 laser, and 1 laser varuun" - there is more, you forgot two heavy weapons, one another ballistic riflem, new grenades etc.
"The vortex horrors they bigged up? You see them 3 times." - there is more during sidequests and exploration of the planet.
"The horror element they advertised? First mission that begins the DLC only. After that, the concept is entirely dropped for flashy space magic with spotlights. The new zero-g combat they promised and marketed? One. There is one set piece with zero-g, and it is the first mission." - explore more, there is a ton of sidequests hidden away or to be found in random landing sites where they generate (not talking about radiant ones)
"Nope, Because they were lazy and coded it as a true/false value on whether you went through the Unity at all. So if you did, you get unique dialogue options the first time through to say you already know what is going to happen. Good job." - yes, there is more stuff added but its a random chance like with multiverse variants.

It isn't that they aren't commenting. When you begin the crusade, Sarah and Sam have unique dialogues that mention and talk about war and the crusade. Barret however only has a generic response. Andreja has none.

I am literally only talking about the armoury, because the armoury is the only place that sells weapons. 9 resets so far. Once has there been a varuun weapon, the minigun variant.

I am her husband. No such thing appeared.

Oh so sorry, yes. There is a energy ball thrower that does almost negative damage, and a new minigun that does 10% more than the normal variant. There are also grenades, which all of which are useless.

I have explored nearly all of the planet and only 3 quests left. So no.

I just found out, the reason why the first elevator doesn't have buttons is because they're below it in the air. If you re-enter with the elevator at the top, you can see the buttons floating where they would be if the elevator went down.

Thank you for this more honest opinion.

You must have bought a different DLC to me, but how do I explain without spoilers. I will make just 3 comments

1. You have seen less than half of the new weapons.

2. Rev8 was always just a dumb idea and a novelty item for children, it is not really practical (nor immersive) and most landscapes (and biomes) of the game do not support it. Drive a monster truck in space ??. In reality a lunar rover crawls at 4 mph

3. Summary - Typical troll post. The DLC has been out for a few hours, you have done practically no exploring and therefore seen practically nothing of what the DLC has to offer
DigiAngel Oct 1, 2024 @ 5:18am
How much time have you put into the dlc would you say? I've seen some reviews at 5 hours, others at 10. Thank you.

Yeah, I know why I won't start the DLC until the first patch is out.
Thanks for the summary - all bit disappointing... BGS know what they did for Skyrim with Serana as a companion / overall experience enhancement... was hoping for a similar tier follower being available, some "never seen anything like that" funny guy with loose trigger finger or sth.

meanwhile Monster Hunter World Iceborne:

adds more story
28 monsters
completely new armor sets ( all base game monsters got new armor sets aswell)
2 new maps
new weapons
new combat mechanics
more customization
adds hundreds of hours of playtime
is actually an AMAZING DLC that could be a new game with how much content it has
all this doesn't include the FREE stuff (this includes monsters, events, armor sets, weapons, transmog etc.).

all this for 40 bucks.

bethesda/microsoft are greedy and lazy

starfield is a joke.

Imagine not testing COMPANION functionality, with the LEADERSHIP perk...

Bethesda is incredibly lazy.

XBOX division news to get a handle on Bethesda stat. Xbox is already on the ropes and fading.

As if that wasn't bad enough...Bethesda has become a serious threat to the brand. At a time whe Xbox is being rightfully criticized for a lack of quality first party games, Bethesda is just reinforcing that low quality reputation.

And once gamers come to associate a brand with shoddy quality and low effort titles, it's a deep hole to dig out. Ask Ubisoft.

Xbox needs to let Emil and Todd go. Or drastically reign them in. This is embarrassing.

So you're saying that this DLC is on par with Phantom Liberty, which is priced the same? Can you really admit it with a straight face?
