Say what you want... But the lack of any planetary infrastructure anywhere is just sad.

They didn't even pretend to have two cities on the same planet.
Not even a road connecting two settlements like humans have had for probably 10.000 years.

The excuse that the planets are too hostile are just infantile. As are the claims that anywhere can face planetary disaster at any moment.

That's simply cope for bad design and terrible world building.

Think of it this way, it's a human thing.

Why move 2 miles/Km down the road from the people who annoy you when you can have a whole planet to yourself? No noisy parties next door, no trees hanging over your fence from next door, just a few nasty local wildlife types that want to rip you apart, but hey, you got away from Mr/Mrs/Ms/Miss/Master Pain who reside in the abode nearby. :steamhappy:

Not at all.

Humans have grav drives (== alien tech) that allow them to warp to other systems instantly, but other than that their technology is pretty archaic.

Even on jemison a viable city needs air purifiers working 24/7.

So they rather don't spread on a world they have barely set foot on (few hundred years in the case of NA, first extra solar system city vs evolving on earth for millions (billions) of years, and concentrate on viable settlements.

Also, they were fresh from a major war. I can totally imagine why there might be a wall to help restrict who gets in and out.

Great points. About the tree and air purifiers to.

Roads and rivers maybe being worked on.

Especially near the Spaceport, with no entry/exit to the wild, even though it didn't really help in the end. Castle walls can always be undermined by some enterprising entity I suppose.

I can agree with part of that. It bugged me a bit that the major cities consisted of a single static instance, and that was it, that was civilization. Anything else was proceduraly placed POI.

I think calling it "simply cope" and terrible world building is a bit extreme, though. They took the No Mans Sky path to world building, and greatly improved on it. But yeah, in a game like this I had hoped for more cohesion in the "civilized" areas.

Don't really care about rivers, but I agree roads would be a welcome addition. If they could add a procediral road-building alogrithm similar to 7 Days to Die (best world generator out there) to connect towns (yes, plural) and POIs, that could be perfect.

That would be a pretty awesome addition to make the more settled planets feel settled. Even if they are still using POIs.

Also maybe Bethesda could do something like setting more rules for POI generation on more planets. So like Jemison would spawn more civilian outposts and such. Maybe Mars spawns more mining outposts. I don’t think this would be too much to ask for. Some planets can already be marked to have no human presence such as Earth and Vectara. It wouldn’t be too much to apply additional rules to other planets.

Yep just cruising down an actual road would make the vehicles way more cool.

If parked vehicles around are added, and different vehicles is a question as well.

Go rewatch Firefly. Other than the Train Robbing episode (and I am pretty sure the only reason for the train was so it could be robbed) there was very little roads or GROUND vehicles at all. EVEN THE MAJOR CIties (had air traffic though).

This complaint has not merit. I can fly where I want. the Vehicle thing makes no sense. Mermaids don't need legs and God don't need a Starship.

Exactly! That would go a long way to making planets feel less "empty" even though they really aren't. They just don't have any logical cohesion due to the NMS style of map generation.
