Red Mile game crash
Every time I interact with the elevator to go down and start the Red Mile after Mei speaks, the game crashes to desktop. Anyone else experiencing this?

No. Do you use mods?
Yes! Can't find a solution yet

I've never had any problems like that. Maybe you could try verifying the game files with steam. Also, if you're running any mods, you might investigate that as a possible problem.

Or, if all else fails, you could just jump off the top and boost as far as you can toward the button. I do that sometimes and I can avoid a lot of the maulers that way.

Yes, if you just jump off the cliff and skip that elevator loading you into the bottom, it solves this crash.

I've had this problem before ;)

Note: After that you *CAN* take the elevator up with no problem...most likely. And after the first time it *SHOULD* work just fine if you do another run. Though, honestly, with even a halfway decent usage of boost pack you can trim a fair chunk off the Mile...

Nah, no mods being used. I appreciate the answers everyone. I’ll give boosting down a shot

Anyone find the answer to this?
Tried hopping down to the bottom of the elevator. Can ride the elevator up, but thats it. Try to go back inside, CTD.
Try to hop down & run the mile, CTD after a few metres.

No mods, verified files, no error msgs.

No need to use elevator for start of quest. You can exit the bar by the entrance after starting the question. It is much more efficient than waiting for her to speak.

Start the mission
Exit via entrance
Jump off cliff with boost see how far you can go before the quest tells you to activate the beacon.
Activate the beacon
THEN return to elevator area and go back up that way... less waiting more fun to get that 29th win.

Sorry if i was unclear.
If I use the elevator to go down, it crashes immediately.
If I jump off the cliff, I will only get a few metres distance from the bottom of the elevator before it CTD. Same if I try just boosting from the cliff.
I can hop down, ride the elevator up, but if I try to hop down again, or go back inside the Den, it crashes.

First time this bug has occurred after several NG+ runs.

I have this same issue but in a previous play through around game launch it worked fine. I do have mods installed but they're only UI related and I used the same ones in that play through too.

Ok i turned down all graphic settings to low and turned off dynamic resolution and it worked. I had jumped off the cliff and had a quick save before you walk off the concrete and it would crash like someone else described. There was still a visible glitch in that area on my return though where the screen froze for a split second but I took the elevator back up fine and got past it.

So I just started ignoring the side quest and progressed further on the Freestar Collective quest line, and when the quest line naturally brought me to the Red Mile and the next thing for me to do was the side quest to run it, the game didn't crash for me.

I guess it's only bugged if you try to run it BEFORE you're at the point in the Freestar Collective quest line where you're supposed to run it, if that makes any sense lol

It crashed when I was doing the Freestar ranger stuff for me I didn't try it before that in this save but as a glitch it did tell me in the activities tab to ask Mei about doing it after I just finished it.

Hmm damn, I had already completed the freestar ranger quest, before the bug started happening.
Tried the low graphics setting (dynamic resolution was already off). No joy.

Guess its another classic bethesda story; patch one problem, create two more.
[Update] This NG+, Red Mile is bug is gone, but have a bug with cooking, nothing I produce goes into the inventory, it gets dropped onto the stove/cooktop... classic

I encountered exactly the same issue.
After ignoring the elevator at RedMile and jumping off the cliff, the game crashes after running for a while.
This is happening during my first vanilla playthrough.

I was able to avoid the CTD by using the console to take a large detour.
I believe the crash is triggered when certain areas are loaded, and my test confirmed that bypassing those areas prevents the crash.
This seems to be a bug that Bethesda needs to address.
