Can't limit FPS on AMD system.
So there is no in game FPS limiter (2023 game btw) and AMD Radeon Chill doesn't limit it either so is there any other way to limit it without installing anything extra?

I have a RX6700XT and running the newest 24.10.1 drivers but even on older drivers this was still a problem. It worked when the game came out but coming back to it after a year or something it doesn't work anymore.

If Chill doesn't want to apply (It won't for me in Fallout 4 either), then you can use the FTC option instead in the global settings in Adrenaline.
Gaming tab -> Graphics -> scroll down, until you find "Frame Rate Target Control". Turn it on, and set your framerate to whatever you want it at.

This *will* work; The problem with this particular option is that this applies to everything, so make sure you turn it back off again if your wanting higher framerates in another program...

Annoying yes, but that's AMD for you....

I've noticed this also. I don't worry much about it. A couple updates ago I started getting very high FPS in some areas. I thought it might be an anomaly,

Have you tried turning on vsync so it tops out at whatever your monitor can handle?

Wasn't there an iFPSLimit setting available in the ini as well???

Chill mode is broken and set to max 60 fps and its actually disabled on my 6600m GPU and by AMD's bugged drivers and it gets 155 fps on Starfield.

Use Rivatuner, it's the recommended framerate limiter on most tech sites. At least it was several years ago when I started using it.

I have an AMD card and am playing Starfield and Rivatuner works fine.

It doesn't work as it only works with application running in exclusive fullscreen and Starfield only has windowed and windowed borderless.

Even the main menu of the game doesn't reach what my monitors can do with vsync off or on.

Exclusive fullscreen hasn't been a thing for years. That died ages ago. This has been standard since well before covid.

For reference, im using a 7900XTX, driver 24.7.1 (Because 9.1 was awful, and 8.1 had the annoying glitch with Adrenaline)
Bordless fullscreen set to ON
Vsync set to off
and FTC set to 144

result?

my game is capped to 144.

..? So, your getting much lower than you think you should be? What does Adrenaline report your FPS to be?

Yeah my FTC didn't limit the FPS with those settings.
My monitor is 165hz and the main menu never goes above 120 fps but then weirdly when I load a save and play the game it goes above that sometimes. I don't know what's up with it I'll just deal with not being able to limit fps it's not such a big deal.

Well, FTC won't raise your fps.. If you limit FTC to 60, it will lock the game to 60, but that won't help if your not getting what you limit it at.

The main menu still has a lot behind that it's loading, so, 120fps in the menu doesn't actually sound that bad. What's it like -in-game-? If it's at 120, or around that, then, i'd accept that with a 6700 XT.

I want to limit the game to 60 but it does stay anywhere between 80-120fps in game on medium/high settings.
