Depends on the planet.

Take Sara's hand off the wheel? She insists on going in the direction she want's to go. Otherwise, try the boost option.

It's pretty much why human beings make roads and how they make them. Thousands of years of improvement to make them better.

So Vehicles (cars, bikes, carriages, etc) will stay on them through all kinds of weather.

Earth roads aren't perfect, but the core concept is there so it minimizes all the problems you discover on alien worlds.

Edit; let me just continue to Pontificate. You know all those All and Off Terrain vehicles that have been the craze every once in a while. Look up their accident statistics. Spoiler alert, they are HIGH! Especially coupled with Human Intelligence and lack there of.

I sort of spoiled myself by making my own flying vehicle (this was before they released the Rev-8). My vehicle isn't much on the cosmetic side, but it works pretty good. Therefore, the Rev-8 didn't wow me much. I do like its looks though.

What's funny is, people will spend 50-80 THOUSAND dollars on an off-road capable truck, and never take it off road.....

The Rev-8 is not the easiest to drive with a KB/Mouse. On ice planets, or those with a very low gravity, driving just isn't in the cards, jump, and boost. Trying to drive is an exercise in frustration.

People complain about sliding movement which has nothing to do with man-made road or the history, it's just pure crap collision and object movement physic codes, such a bunch of irrelevant crap that you posted to justify lazy incompetent coding.

I haven't tried with M/K but it isn't much better with a controller. As much as I like that they added a vehicle and I do drive it a lot as I'm busy with planet scanning, it was clearly not something they wanted to do and just did the bare minimum to satisfy everyone who was asking for it. Every time I drive it, I constantly think "Can I please go back to the Mako?" which is saying a lot given how bad that was!!

Have you tried driving on Dirt, Sand, Snow? Yeah they could have made it so you never slipped, but .....you know. Friction, Physics.

Transquantitive Dimensional particle accelleration deconstructive neumonien quark realignment (Ok this parts utter nonsense).

Remember that Bloomberg interview when Todd Howard was asked about vehicles and Phil Spencer scoffed? Jetpacks were considered adequate 'vehicles'.

Then later on Phil Spencer said Todd Howard thought it was a mistake to release the buggy before the DLC?

It was never meant to "just work" but just create hype and appease the Microsoft overlords...

No it's not. Ever play Mass Effect 1? That is terrible vehicle handling.
Bastard Emperor Nov 30, 2024 @ 11:39am
I've seen footage of this vehicle and it looks cumbersome and also the vast majority of the surfaces it runs on are riddled with so many obstacles it makes it look infuriating to use the vehicle.

A much better solution would have been to have a drop-ship, a small 2 person capacity ship that could take you anywhere on the map and then land.

Like a lot of things in this game, they are poorly thought out and poorly implemented.

The only thing that Bethesda got wrong (but is rather easily adapted to) is that Looking partially directs steering (depending on your ssetting).
If you're expecting GTA-style driving, then no... the game does not have this (yet).

It's really easy to use the vehicle, obstacles always have enough space between them. You will always be at least 2X faster for any traversal on any planet using the vehicle vs on foot.

You have the game, haven't even tried it yourself but still made a wrong assertion about it

Sliding movement is only a thing on ice surfaces, the vehicle goes straight otherwise.

Physics are very good in SF especially compared to other games with similar moveable objects (IE No man sky).
