The question is do you really need that many mods?

Some mods require frameworks, which are also in that limit.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

wow i had no idea this was the mod limit, this makes a lot of sense, i disabled a bunch so now i have 107 loaded and nothing bad happens anymore

It's not a "limit", it's a bug with ID. It has a weird bugged limit after which the game starts adding the same Id to different plugins thus causing something to not appear in the game. It's mostly invisible texture.
No specifics, some can have 120 mods and be ok, others are getting issues at 95 (like me).

there are plenty of guides on how to properly install mods , but you have to watch/read them , you have to invest the time to learn how to do it right, if you're not willing to do that then best if you dont mod the game ,
if you do, it will just be a frustrating

This^^^

It's not an exact science as far as number of plugins (esm's) so the number seems to be different for each load order. But it doesn't matter if they are small, medium, or large esm's as far as mods.

And for example, since many texture mods do not contain a plugin those don't count.

Once you hit the limit you'll either get an infinite loading screen, or missing world meshes

you could simply have a mod conflict thats crashing the game , breaking other mods , read the readmes and the posts on the mods page , in the mods description there should be easy to understand installation and removal instructions , if there isnt , thats a big red flag, it may be a good idea to not install the mod

The fact the bethesda doesn't warn about it in creations menu and sells paid mods while the modding is borked is ridiculous

pretty sure there are warnings all over when using the creation club ("use creations at your own risk" messages).

Don't use mods if you don't have basic troubleshooting and file management skills

yep you need to know your computer and your file system thats why a lot of my friends dont mod they hide behind excuse like "vanilla is better" but then see my game with better graphics new content and ask how i show them the tip of the iceberg and there mind explode and stop directly at the installation of a modmanager xD
