Starfield's player numbers vs other single player games of 2023.
Just to disprove and hopefully end this ridiculous argument with the Starfield and Bethesda haters constantly pulling up player numbers as if it's some sort of "win" for them. Many people, including myself, have already pointed out why player numbers for a single player game is meaningless. Especially if you're only getting your data from a single platform such as Steam.

Therefore I made a compilation of some of the biggest single player games that launched on multiple platforms including Steam in 2023. There is also an honorable mention with a game that came out this year in 2024.

I will be using Steam charts and looking at the last thirty day peak player count and I will be numbering the games from 1, having the highest player account to 10, the game with the lowest player count, plus the Honourable mention.

1. Hogwarts legacy: 19857
2. Starfield: 11185
3. Resident evil four remake: 6587
4.Lies of p: 3573
5. Armored core six: 3235
6. Star wars jedi survivor: 3206
7. Dredge: 1908
8. Atomic Heart: 1299
9. Dead space remake: 1161
10. Avatar frontiers of pandora: 725
Honorable mention, Dragon's dogma 2: 4745

As you can see from the Steam charts and many other games that came out in 2023 including dragons dogma 2 a game that came out this year. Starfield is doing very well for itself. Especially considering it's a game that launched on game pass for free to over 34 million subscribers on Starfield's launch day.

So can we please stop this narrative that Starfield's "low player count" is solely unique to it as a video game and using it as a talking point to say the game is a failure. Because if Starfield is a failure all of these other games are massive money sinks for the company who made them by doing far worse than Starfield.
And I hope that people will stop using only steam to push their narrative. It's a single platform. It's not the sole platform for gaming nor is it the arbiter of gaming.

The game must be once again on the rise, the trolls are out in force.

You can combine all those games and SF still has a bigger budget than all those games put together. Not a good look considering this game only has 5k in game. :cozyspaceengineersa:

Yeah I don't think anyone who thinks for themselves pays attention to all the "low player count" bs. Starfield is fine. But is it for everyone? Of course not, no game is.

Sure buddy, higher than hogwarts legacy, avatar, dragons dogma, and star wars combined just to name a few on the list. Keep coping buddy. You guys love to use Steams statistics to base all your opinions off of even though it's a single platform. I did exactly what you guys do only use steam charts. Keep moving the goal post but starfield's doing just fine lol.

That's correct one monster budget for one monster failure just to hit 5k in game on Steam. :cozyspaceengineersa:

Very well said vlad. This idea came to me today when I was watching a YouTube short about people talking about how Starfield was a massive success. And in the comments everyone kept posting steam numbers a year later from its launch, as if it was some sort of win. Therefore I decide to look up some of the biggest games that launched last year that are all single player and compare them. Starfield is doing just fine on steam.

Yup keep moving the goal post buddy. You guys dismissed the fact that starfield hit 13 million players last year. You ignored the fact that it was within the top 10 best selling games of 2023. You ignore the fact that it was within the platinum tier of profitability on steam.
And now you're even coping with steam chart numbers when you compare starfield to other single player games that came out last year as well. You can keep moving that goal post as much as you want.

SF can't even break even yet alone compete with older rpgs, that's why all those games have more people playing than SF atm. :cozyspaceengineersa:

Excellent numbers for a game that's almost a year old. Seems to be keeping people interested!
warhammer online died and was kind of the best mmorpgs these days. pax dei is almost empty. player numbers mean nothing.
major tom Aug 5, 2024 @ 8:33am
and the steam rating went further down to 57.05%. so nothing new on the rating front...
happy gaming to all starfield players contributing to this fantastic steam rating. if you want to feel better look at the not owner based metacritic rating... the situation is completely the opposite compared to sept 2023.

Just about says it all doesn't it!!!!

I will tell you something as a player who played most of other Bethesda titles. I am not buying this or playing this even if I get it for free, unless reviews improve radically, from my understanding the story sucks, if I want to play some sandbox game with lousy generated content I will let you know.

I keep following this hoping it will improve dramatically with some update, it seems it doesn't.

Also, 5k online versus 20k+ for Fallout 4, which is 1000 years old, and had a fraction of the budget, well...it sums it all.
Taipan Aug 5, 2024 @ 8:37am
Also, the number of the single players is irrelevant, Bethesda sold this title based on the reputation of the old games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim, not based on its' quality, 100%.
