Designed to waste the player's time setting up.
This seems to be their overall idea for the game's life expectancy of ten years.
There is a secret the game doesnt tell you...
Your character has unlimited carry weight. You can't fast travel while encumbered, and you will run out of O2 very quickly, but the periodic damage from Co2 can't kill you, only drop your hp to 10%. Encumberance does not lower your normal running speed.
You can run normally to your ship with 9999999999 kilotons of stuff and then travel normally to any planet, station or outpost.
If you're encumbered but not too much, you can use the personal atmosphere power for unlimited O2, so you will be able to sprint.
not really considering you can dramatically increase your carry weight capacity in the settings
I didn’t even do that. Perks, plus added extra cargo to my ship solved it for me. I can carry 265 I believe. Ship hull is around 5300. Also, I don’t pick up everything. Just what I need or things of value. Carry capacity isn’t a problem I run into.
Yeah I did notice that.. It is quite nice.. (Except when running back to my ship from over 1000 meters.) But at that point I know that if I'm far away, just don't pick up everything.. Which torture the loot goblin in me. :P
(I haven't gotten that power yet unfortunately.)
But yeah, just not my cup of tea.. right now at least... Maybe it will be the game of the century in 10 years like you said... But for now I'll just play some Fallout 4 or Elder Scrolls Online to scratch that itch... (But also kinda invested in the story... So might just speedrun that part.)
Do you mean PC settings of the game files? If so I am playing on Xbox One.. Using Game Pass... So if I even use a mod it will disable all Achievements..
Which kinda sucks.. Because mods fix/improve everything.
Or do you mean an in-game setting? If so I'd restart my entire run and enable unlimited storage space... (Still doesn't fix the Outposts Cargo Link stuff.. But I'll take what I can get.)
"But what is bugging me is whenever I setup a Cargo Link I want it to be like Fallout 4 and have all my items from all my bases be available for crafting and manufacturing.."
I suppose it's realistic though, if your extractors are constantly pumping out resources, they have to go somewhere.
In fallout 4 we are kind of spoiled with infinite workbench storage.
I have never said anything like that
difficulty settings, in game. Can be changed any time (no need to start a new game). You can't set carry weight to unlimited but increase the limit a lot (like over 1k).
Tbh the approach in Fo4 is very satisfying, even if its brain dead easy it does the job.
Cargo links in Starfield do work but demand a bit more effort and are less overpowered. They key is understanding that you don't need A LOT of resources and storage space, but you do need A LOT of DIFFERENT resources. The output and storage does not matter really because :
Extractors are insanely fast and they always produce stuff. 1 basic extractor for each resource will cover all your needs.
You only need to make sure that each resource makes it to the cargo link trip and have a few storage containers at the final outpost. You will end with a base with a large amount of different resources, perfect for crafting. As you use the resources, they will refill automatically, faster than you use them.
