Direct to local map

When in a city, is there a way to press a single key to open the map of the city? It makes no sense to have to press F and then G. or to press M and then G just to see a map of the city you're in. Shouldn't maps automatically open to your location? If I'm in space, then show the space map. If I'm on the surface, then show the surface map. If I'm in a city, then show the city map.

Sometimes it works for me that the ground map open but I have no idea why.

Usually it opens to the world and then you have to hit G.
