Saw this today, rumored title for year 2 expansion is “Starborn” after ZeniMax filed a recent trademark claim.

Let the wild speculation begin.

If they do that, then I'm out.

But what if. Just....WHAT IF. By killing the First Starborn or Starborn Prime you can destroy the Artifacts across all Dimensions negating the Entire Starborn part of the game.

I understood that reference.

They're OP and convenient. Highlight all living beings, personal atmosphere, grav dash, solar flare for bullet sponge bosses, slow time (text book OP but fun occasionaly), stealth form etc. They work beautifully.

Mechs won't be a thing because the established lore has them listed as outlawed tech by both the FSC and the UC.

That doesn't mean you couldn't fight an outlaw in one. Xenowarfare was outlawed too, but that didn't stop the Terrormorph plotline.

I'll admit to being more than a little disappointed that the final fight against the First in the mech factory wasn't against Paxton Hull in a Mech.

Hadn’t thought about it before, but yeah, that would have been a great spot for a Mech boss fight.

Well, this doesn't belay my fears that the next expansion(s) won't focus on the dragon...er....starborn part of the game. It's honestly the most boring part of the game IMHO. I have acquired a lot of these shouts...er....powers but rarely if ever use them at all, they're afterthoughts. The starborn themselves seem more like arrogant human beings being arrogant human beings than being a relatable people, so my interest in them (outside of nabbing one of their ships) is minimal. I've finished the game, so to speak, or at least finished out that whole Main questline and it left me "meh".

Now give us Mechs, or a future war between the two major factions, or a war by either/both of them against major entities like Crimson, and I'm in. The game we're playing right now is on the Cold War timeline of real life, without any feeling of actual threat, just kind of like "yeah, um, here we are....so anyway...." I guess I'm saying some more excitement, and less "we need to talk" and powers that never inspire use lol.

No, current lore only give some explanation why there isn't currently mech, but:
- Lore registers that huge mechs are part of the lore, both very efficient and that can be build in large numbers.
- The two official factions only control a small part of the galaxy, some planets could use mech.
- The treaty could breaks in case of diplomatic derails between the two factions, or some war threatening, or war starting, in all those cases they could include a rush to mechs.

This was "leaked" to gauge interest and see if its worth developing or not. So make sure you get as many people hyped for it as possible, otherwise we might not see its release

Sure, not questioning that. I just never have a real need to use them so I rarely if ever reference them. I'll look at whatever new shiny one I've earned, test it out, go "huh" and then continue to blast things with my guns.

Install some stuff that boosts enemies, increase difficulty. Enemies can be really a problem at some point

I predict 7 hours of gameplay, if you don't skip the terrible dialogue, rated 4/10 supporting optional paid CC content. At least it didn't go down the route of a horror/ghost story.

go for maxed difficulty settings and NG+10 or higher. I get one shot by tons of enemies there using the maxed Starborn armor and maxed damage mitigation skills

Powers are quite nice especially the stealth form, slow time and detect life ability. They feel great and even balanced at that level of difficulty since a wrong move gets you killed.

It's just a trademark filing. Companies do this all the time and in preparation for a future product.

Having said all that the starborn/multiverse shtick is the weakest part of the game for me. I'd much rather seem the further develop the setting and factions they currently have.

That's not a Microsoft way, it's official there will be more extension, Todd quoted it before the leak, so there will be more extension even if none named Starborn despite it seems quite relevant for a Starfield extension name.

Such leak are more attempt to build/contribute to a hype than any test to decide a release or not.

Who care? Starborn is a hot thing now, all games are better in imagination that reality, commercial are masters since long, video game project leaders still a bit amateurish in comparison.

But what expect from a world rushing to social and promoting more and more social qualities at depends of others? (this is related not just to absurd social level that brought mobile phones, but also generative AI leading pretend AI won't remove human lead for social skills, sure for now but until Ai will. All those speakers/representative/front leaders are so full of themselves and their top social skills, they'll fall hard. Yeah modern world make me vomit, or at least the direction it seems take.

Well to be fair, Dragonborn expansion was brilliant. Don't mind the names being similar as long as it's actual good content.
I agree. I think Dragonborn was an awesome dlc. This just reminds me of the plot of Fallout 3 where it's the child searching for the dad, then in Fallout 4, it's the parent searching for the son. And then we got the daughter-searching-for-dad plot of the Fallout tv series.

I mean, can we at least try something original here?

I hope that it's really good.

Dragonborn was really good for the map expansion and side quests, the main storyline was pretty bad though, but I guess that's tradition for Bethesda at this point.

Still, I could bring myself to finish it, can't say that for any of the main storylines of FO3, FO:NV or FO4. Or Skyrim base game for that matter.

Might be an odd opinion, but I really appreciate the main storyline in SF being what it is, no real urgency unless you are almost done with it, and you can focus on what you actually want to do in the game if you don't like it without feeling shoehorned into the thing.
