keybindings not working in starfield
hello folks.
took a break from starfield for a bit and been playing fallout 4 again. came back updated ect, and now having issues with 'activate' keybinding. checked in the bindings menu and its as it was before but i cannot activate or pick up anything the binding works fine for menus ect, reset to different keys but still wont work.
anyone got any clues as to what the problem may be? surely it cant be the update, well it is a bethesda game.
yes im running mods, but same ones as before.

I was having problem with the standard keybinding....in the sense that some would fail to operate in the game. E button failed to open a door, reload and it was fine again. Other similar circumstances so took a chance a ran the game as administrator.

That change seemed to cure my problems. Not sure if it work for you but only takes a few minutes to make a shortcut and run the exe file as administrator.

I have same problem. E keybind for talk, open doors etc is not working. Like you I have a dozen or so mods installed, and all was working fine when I played it last in April. Logged back in, updates completed, and the E does not work (even if I rebind it to another key)

I have disabled my mods in vortex, as I read somewhere Enhanced Player Healthbar mod was the issue - however I dont have that mod installed, but disabled them all anyway, and still no joy. Tried running it as administrator, still didnt work

I am sure I had this problem before - and cant remember how I solved it !!

Solved it - Despite the fact I deleted mods, uninstalled Vortex, it was still happening. I went to Starfield Custom.ini and deleted the following -

[Archive]
bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
sResourceDataDirsFinal=

Keybind E now works

Deleting the StarfieldCustom.ini [Archive] worked for me without uninstalling mods etc. I haven't confirmed that they all work yet.

I have a similar problem... My bluetooth controller, a 8BitDo Pro started acting up. The B button is mapped to the A button in addition to the B button also remaining the same.
I cant enter anything in menus because the controller wants to be B for back, and I crouch in game with both A and B buttons.

I tried another game and it works fine, and I tried the controller on my switch and it was also fine.
I double checked the bindings in Steam and in game... and they appear to be normal.
Im not running any mods... no idea what could be happening here.
Hope someone has an idea.
