Items built with decorator are clipping through the floor
Anybody else experience this?

For instance, I'm trying to place a weapons workbench but the legs are through the floor making the whole thing unusable

Yes. Since the go-kart update, I can barely place certain items at all, including the weapon bench. It clips into the floor and either places in an unusable spot or refuses to place at all. I finally managed to land one in a usable spot but its ugly and placed all wrong.. it will do until they fix it.
Many items work, but a decent sized handful just fall through the floor including the xenosnuggle and glacticat. I have lost several items entirely, I think they fell on through the whole world.

We know they are responding to feedback and bug reports so I'll be reporting things like this. We all should.

I was having the same issue with the weapon bench, but you can work around it by spawning one with console commands instead of building it normally. Simply stand where you would like the bench to go and use this command. The bench will spawn where you're standing, not in front of you.

It should also work with other furniture if you look for their ID
The only issue is that furniture spawned like this can't be moved via the build menu, but you can remove it with console commands by opening the console, clicking on it, and typing 'disable', and then spawning it again wherever you want.

Not had this problem and I've spawned quite a few.

After many, many attempts...I realized that I was able to place the weapon bench if I stood really far away from the spot I wanted it to be placed. It worked for me and hopefully you can make it work too.

Thank you I will try it. Been trying to place it for an hour. Gave up and started exploring. 😆

After the weapons workbench is placed, if the legs are still below the surface, you can use the 'modpos' console command to raise the workbench to the correct position. Engage the command console and click on the workbench. Make sure a hex code prefixed by 'FURN' appears in the centre of the screen. (if you get another hex code, scroll until the right one appears.) Now type the command: 'modpos z .2'. This should raise the workbench sufficiently. Exit the command console and see if the workbench is operable. If the value '.2' doesn't adjust it correctly, you can use other values. Negative values will lower the item.

I'd like to mention this doesn't work on ships. Clicking the bench doesn't select it, for some reason it selects random ship parts (like walls and floors) and can potentially screw things up if you don't put it back, like falling into space 🤣
It kinda sucks that this isn't being fixed in the upcoming patch :/

Ive managed to get it to work by place a small white round coffee table in front of the desired spot, the put the bench down, then delete the table. It works more often than not.
The lack of a hotfix for this and many other critical bugs is why I still keep a negative review. If they would fix the worst of the bugs, I would move to positive.

Did they add a snap grid to rooms yet?

It does work on ships (on PC cheat console), if you know this trick: sometimes (more often than not) you have to left-click and then mouse-scroll through the objects until it displays the FURN ID and then you can "modpos z .2" or sometimes more is needed, so "modpos z .3". Hope that helps.
