In the meantime, plenty of vehicle mods popping up since this morning. NASA lunar rover, a Crimson Fleet gang van, an old Earth style ATV, and more. And some add cargo space on it. So along with the E option to enter, there is a an option R to put stuff in or remove stuff from storage. Great for scanning and gathering.
There is also already a mod which lets you set the vehicle to scale with your level, so armor and the weapon get more powerful as you do.
I can see vehicle building being a thing in the future. It will probably be more limited than ship building in terms of stat modularity (maybe a few fixed templates in terms of actual manoeuverability and handling + cosmetic parts), butI don't see why that couldnt be a thing.
Yeah. I see it that way too. Doesn't have to be anything major. different modules, like the cargo ability some have already added, but as actual components to place on the vehicle. Varied shapes, wheel design, maybe some decorative things like communications arrays. Endless possibilities, the red meat for modders.
